Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away

Jul 16, 2009 13:23

As in, yesterday, the sky was blue, the high for the day was 77, and all was right with the world. Today, I woke up to rain, it's 85 and humid, and there are clouds hovering across the lake that are 1) coming right for us and 2) don't look friendly at all.

Heather, a grad student in our department, recently spent two weeks in Singapore collecting, of all things, wasp spit. Some things you have to take at face value, because the answer may be scarier than just not knowing. Anyway, she brought me back a good luck charm that was blessed by an honest to goodness monk. She said that she watched him bless it herself, so good things are on their way, right? It looks like a red graduation tassel with six coins woven into it, if you’re tracking.

I’m taking tomorrow off, so it’ll be an extended weekend of gaming and generally slacking off. The beer festival is in town, which may be an interesting way to kill a couple of brain cells, I mean hours. Unfortunately, it’s supposed to rain most of the day Saturday. Did I mention that it’s rained every day this month save three? The 5th, 10th, and (yesterday) the 15th. According to my “research,” the next rain free day should be the 20th. I’m secretly hoping that it’s tomorrow though, for obvious reasons.

Work and such, so Happy Thursday and enjoy your weekend!

Peace
