SUMMARY: Fang decides she should check up on the newbie teacher and make sure she's settling in well.
Why did I ever bother getting an apartment in town?
Fang grinned at herself for the question as she walked through the faculty housing building. No need to ask - she remembered where Lightning lived. Which was a good thing, as this visit was completely on impulse. Fang was already coming over to the school to meet up with some students, though that wasn't until the afternoon. But she figured she could do work just as well here as in her apartment - better, actually, without the frustration of a loud upstairs neighbor.
She'd found herself glancing at the housing as she passed by, and her thoughts wandering to the not-so-sociable PE teacher. Had she gotten herself into trouble yet? Probably not by any standard of rules - on the contrary, she'd probably been following the rules too closely. Fang wasn't exactly one to listen to gossip or keep that close an ear to the rumor mill, so she wasn't sure what people were saying about Lightning. But if she had to bet, she'd say Lightning wasn't making any effort to make friends.
Well, the youngest teachers had to stick together, right? Even if Lightning got to hold that title all by herself now.
That was how Fang ended up standing outside of Lightning's door, dressed casually in her sari and with a messenger bag slung over her shoulder. Along with her papers, she had presents! Toys for Muffin, which counted to her mind, at least. Hey, Fang was positive that she had at least one friend in that apartment, and she planned on keeping at least that much. (If one of those students she was meeting up with had a kitten, well, Fang could pretend to be ignorant of that and the kitten could spare a toy or two.)
She rapped three times on Lightning's door, and waited.
