Sometime in the midst all of Meiling's wandering, a small extra shadow had appeared at her elbow. Probably soon after she had discovered the hallways. Flandre had crept up alongside, though she didn't precisely mean to; but. She was quite good at sneaking about by now, given her tendency to hide from doctors. And there was nice soft carpet in the hallway; if she wasn't wearing shoes, she would have wiggled her toes in it at least twice.

Finally, the little shadow at Meiling's elbow piped up:

"Hello!"

Sneaking up on people is totally a legitimate greeting.

Meiling nearly jumped out of her skin -- and into a small stand that held an expensive vase. Shrieking, she turned again, diving and managing to catch it between her hands so as to protect it from harm, even as she landed face-first on the carpet.

Good thing that was soft, huh?

Flandre jumped backwards herself--almost teleporting and certainly being quick enough about it that it was easy to assume such. One moment she was by this tall stranger's side and the next three feet distant and leaning back on her heels precariously, as if she were deciding whether to move again or not.

"--oh." Her voice was much smaller and much more...stunned, really. This was not a reaction Flandre had been expecting; surprise, maybe, but not...this.

A more rational mind probably would have seen the logical conclusion to sneaking up on people, but Flandre was not really in possession of such.

So she just kind of stared, and blinked, and wavered on the decision of running away or not.

With a groan, Meiling dropped a hand to the floor so she could roll herself over, clutching the vase to her chest. "Whew! That was close," she panted as she sat upright. "...oh! Hi there!" She's not even mad, just surprised.

The little girl's still regarding Meiling as if she had sprouted a second head. But at least she had decided not to run off; she settled forwards off of her heels and blinked some more.

"Hello, again."

...hey hold on.

"Oh, I know you! From school!"

Sort of. Flandre being Flandre, her memories are usually fuzzy or at least scattered around like bits of mosaic.

"That's right!" Still smiling, she tucks her legs under her body and rises into a standing position. "You must be Remilia's sister, with that name and cute face."

An easy compliment, given as she turns to set the vase back on its stand. "There! Good as new."

"I am!"

That confused look promptly vanished, replaced instead by a happy, beaming smile. Flandre is appeased!

"...I forget your name. What is it?"

"Meiling Hong," she said as she closed the distance and leaned down, hands on her knees. "It's nice to meet you in person, Flandre!"

Even with this, Flandre still had to crane her head up a bit to look at Meiling why am I so small. She giggled before she spoke, this time.

"Meiling is tall!"

The littler girl reached up, to put her hands on the taller one's shoulders as if emphasizing this fact.

Taking the gesture as a prompt, she tucked herself down, legs against her chest, arms atop her knees with her chin resting on her arms. "Am I still tall?"

Flandre turned her head sideways this time.

"...Meiling looks like me!"

Though she does mean more of the posture thing, which Flandre often found herself in when hiding in places that lacked chairs. Or much space.

She hasn't removed her hands from the (formerly!) taller girl's shoulders, either.

"Do I?" Ah, it's been so long since she's spent any time with kids. Even at school, so many of them had their own friends and such, so it was nice to have a moment like this.

"Because of how I'm sitting, right?"

"Like that, like that!"

...and she leaned a bit close to Meiling's face, eyes wide and almost touching noses. Flandre's head tilted a bit to the other side, this time. You are fascinating. Yes you are.

What is personal space? Meiling just beams and blinks, watching the little girl with those big blue eyes of hers. "I don't have something on my face, do I?" A little joke, she shouldn't...

Abruptly, Flandre giggles.

"A nose!"

And she pinches this with another giggle. The little girl seems pleased with this discovery!

Meiling gives up an exaggerated gasp, her voice nasal as the blond grabs her nose. "Itai yo..." Though she doesn't look upset, she puts her hands atop her own head in mock panic. "What are you going to do with it?"
