LOCATION/SETTING: Scarlet Devil Mansion, Paris, France
DATE & TIME: The day after everyone else is already settled.
WARNINGS: A for Awkward
SUMMARY: Mei-Ling arrives late to the gathering that she didn't know she was arriving late for? What.
"No, you don't understand!" Meiling shouted, getting more and more frustrated by the minute. She was standing beside a cab, a sudden summer shower catching but her and the taxi driver unawares. They were parked before a gigantic gate, the sprawling lawn dark and slick beyond the wrought iron bars. There was an impressive mansion some distance -- the sort belonging to the clients that the Hong family's clients would be known to inhabit -- the face of which appeared ominous in the diffused light of the clouds.
Except there was something different about this scene, as the cabbie unpacked the large cases from the trunk: "I'm asking you, check the map again, s'il vous plait?" Meiling voice grew desperate, but the man was quite insistent. He was old. He knew this part of the city like the back of his hand. And, most importantly (as he kept insisting) this was all he was paid to do. Drive the girl here, drop her off at the gate, and get on with his other work. The man had other people to pick up, after all, and no amount of pleading was going to convince him otherwise.
When he finally drove off, leaving Meiling in the rain like that, she only thing she could do was turn and approach the security hut beside the gate and try to explain the situation. But maybe she'll wait until the guard is off the phone.

[ Finally, she made it inside the main lobby, but that's as far as the guard would let her go. They said little, but she was being treated as if ... they expected her? This is all such a strange occurrence, and it's obvious on her face.
Meiling's cases were stacked at her side and she stood dropping onto a mat, waiting for her escort. She's not surprised they have a butler, but she has to wonder what comes next... ]
