Just one day back and Sakuya was already settled into the old routine. Of course, there was the the fact that Patchouli was here this time, but that wasn't so odd. All three of the girls - well, him as well - had various assignments to work on, but even with that there was plenty of free time. Even with his chores, Sakuya was finding time for leisure - though he could tell it was because the Lady Scarlet wasn't having him work at full capacity. Perhaps he'd speak with her or the head butler about that ( ... )

That surprise goes double for her, and she turns right toward him. "S-Sakuya! I'm sorry, I didn't... I don't..." Poor girl wasn't shivering, but definitely uncomfortable. She just nodded lamely and accepted the towel when it was offered, starting with her exposed arms and face.

"Thank you. I don't really know why I'm here. I think the driver took me to the wrong address, but he insisted he was right." Meiling dug into her pocket and handed him a small piece of paper with the address written on it. A large property such as this, she didn't see a sign at all for the address, just a nameplate, but he'll know the address is, indeed, correct.

"Sometimes they can be stubborn like that," Sakuya admitted, taking the crumpled piece of paper and taking a moment to straighten it out. Reading it over though... "Not in this case though. He brought you to the right address."

So... why was Meiling here?

"Where was it you said you thought you'd be staying this summer?"

"I don't know!" Taking the paper back, staring at it in consternation before putting it away again. "All I knew is that my parents made the arrangements and that they would send someone to pick me up from the train platform.

"They also said I'd know more when I arrived, but I don't know how." Maybe they left a note, or they'll call soon. One of those had to be true.

"Well... if I had to guess, it seems your parents have arranged with the Scarlets for you to stay with us for the summer," said Sakuya, pondering the situation. "I guess this explains why they had me prepare one of the guest rooms yesterday..."

Offering to take back the towel if she was done, he moved to get her luggage.

"Well, in either case, let's get your things put away for the moment, shall we? And give you a chance to change into something dry."

"That's so weird. Why wouldn't they tell me?" She really doesn't understand how these things work, sometimes. Though her parents were very busy, so it could have just easily slipped their minds. (Meiling had to get it from somewhere.)

Done for now, she nods and hefts the largest case over her shoulder. The second? Has a handle and wheels. "Okay! That sounds like a good idea. Hopefully I don't drip all over the carpet..."

"Don't worry, it'll be fine," said the boy, though he was eying the luggage. "You sure you don't want me to get that for you?"

It felt supremely out of place to be letting a guest carry their things, much less a lady...

And it felt out of place to let a friend do things for her while he was supposed to be on vacation. She doesn't seem to be burdened by her luggage one bit. "I'm okay! Thank you, though. Just lead the way, Sakuya~"

Unfortunately, "vacation" was a foreign concept to Sakuya, and she's probably see him working most of the time she was here. Still, he wasn't about to wrest the luggage from her...

"If you say so, Meiling," he replied, before setting off down the hall towards the guest quarters. "Right this way."

"Okay!" She follows along behind, the wheels of the one case squeaking quietly. "I wish I knew why they were so secretive about this. I mean, if you didn't know, and you're working here..." Tiny sigh.

Sakuya made a note to find some WD-40 and fix that wheel later.

"Well, I'm working here, but I'm pretty much at the bottom of the chain of command," Sakuya admitted. "I'm a butler-in-training and a student, so I'm not really an important part of the full-time staff."

He's so thoughtful.

"Not even telling you who you were preparing the room for? That's weird to me." Then again, she doesn't really know how this kind of work is structured. "I hope it wasn't too much trouble."

That or obsessive-compulsive.

"I don't question orders; it's pretty normal to be told to do one thing or another without them explaining exactly what it's for," he said with a shrug. "Don't worry about it though, it was hardly any more work than any of the usual cleaning."

It wasn't long before they arrived at the room, and he opened the door for Meiling, showing her inside.

"Here we are."

"If you say so..." She won't press, but it still seemed off. If he wasn't her friend, it wouldn't bother her as much.

Inside the door, she sets down the bags and stares at the rather luxurious setting. "Wow! And this is a guest room?"

As capable as he was, Sakuya was still the youngest member of the staff here and also hadn't been working in the France Estate very long or often, so he was basically at the bottom of the servant hierarchy. Which suited him perfectly fine, a basic structure of his authoritarian upbringing.

"Well, we wouldn't treat our guests to anything less than the best of our hospitality," he said with a smile. "The bathroom's there, and that's the closet if you want to put your things in the drawers. If there's anything you need, fresh towels, linen, laundry, supplies, meals, feel free to tell me or one of the other servants. Otherwise, I hope you enjoy your stay with us, Meiling."

She looks everything over, moving about swiftly and peering at this and that. You would think for a minute that she wasn't the daughter of such a rich family but, well, what can she say? She's curious and this style of decor is unlike what she's used to.

...oh, he was talking to her? She stops bouncing on the edge of the bed and beams. "Of course! But I promise I won't be too much of a bother. What kind of friend would I be?"
