I finally figured out a plot for this story, so it's no longer the shameless smushing together of Jeff Noon's universe and Kishimoto's characters. I'm kind of proud of this.
Vurt Ninjas 5, the backstory chapter: or, how Naruto introduced Sasuke and Sakura to each other in the worst way possible.

:D I have no idea what's going on, but I'm reading anyway because your Sakura is so cool. What's up with Sasuke, though? What are shadowpeople? *curiouscurious*

Naruto's not a skank completely, he just...likes girls who save his life and boys who are assholes! (No taste in men, that guy. Tch.)

Shadowpeople are, insofar as I remember, people who give off smoke. (Don't ask why or how, I have no idea. It's kind of creepy is you start thinking about it.) But Shadowgirls can do all sorts of nifty things like read people's minds or scramble their thoughts temporarily with their shadows (Ino!), and they can also animate dead bodies. Shadowboys are apparently completely different, though. I haven't read the book in the series that dealt more with them, so I'm kind of making things up based on the info from that one website, but it seems like Shadowboys are illegal ("Zombie" is a deragatory term for them), and to be killed on sight and stuff. Sasuke is a Smoker, which means he has a lot of Shadow blood in him--I made him half human and half Shadow, actually

I'm really enjoying this -- whee character interaction and on-the-edge-of-law-ness. I'd enjoy it more if I had a clue about how the world works, though ;_; would it be too annoying to ask for a quick explanation of the specific terms? I tried looking at the site when you posted it a while back, but it was too confusing for me. x_x;;; *feels stupid*

Heh, no, it's not annoying at all--I'm working with one of the obscurest fusions out there, I know. *sheepish look* Though it's actually been so long since I read Vurt that I'm probably making mistakes all over the place

I confess that I didn't read deep into the first 4 Vurt Ninja chapters (because I was just too confused), but after reading this one I just had to go back and reread them and the Jeff Noon Info Portal. And now, everything clicks…almost. XD
I LOVE how you incorporated Konoha into the Vurt universe. It fits beautifully.
Maybe you mentioned it before, but, what is the significance of the feathers having yellow?
If the government produces the blue feathers and the porn industry produces the pink ones, who made the black ones and why?
When they go to "Konoha", do they still retain their memories?

This is such a fun AU!! (and Naruto’s sex drive amuses me)

Heh. Jeff Noon is the author of Vurt, this cyberpunk novel that this story is pretty much a fusion with. It's pretty obscure, so...yeah. *sheepish grin* Almost everyone has no idea what's going on.
