Last day of the Con today. On one hand I'm almost releived that the lines, crowds, fucking more lines are almost over and done with. But on the other I'm sad that I have one more day in which to personally stalk and glomp the Mirage guys before I get put back safely on my secure little island. Oh well, sure as heck gonna continue to stalk them online much more than I was before this. All of those guys are such sweet-hearts.
A few highlights thus far;
Got me a Kevin Eastman cuddle and kiss on the cheek. (Note, if you want Kevin-kisses, choc-bribes work well ;D)
Steve Lavigne (who I now realise was who I was actually talking about being a lovely guy when I was gushing over Mike Dooney before, not that Dooney isn't sweet either, but I've really hit it off with Steve XD) signed a copy of one of the kid's book he's illustrated (
Shine Like a Lighthouse) to all my kids, complete with an extra love-heart for each of my three boys around the little signature he'd put inside the cover pre-show.
I got me the third Vol 1 Collection book sold, and the first signed by all the Mirage guys on Artist's Alley (including Gary Richardson). It was also the first copy Kevin Eastman got to see, and he swiped it real quick to have a look through it when I took it over to the Heavy Metal booth for him to sign. A sigh of releif from him later that the book did indeed contain all his original lettering (squee!) and he happily added his signature to the contents page. (right over the actual contents listing; moar squee! ^^)
Gary Richardson is a great guy to chat to, though I think he's been a bit surprised when any fan goes to chat to him specifically. Especially when the fan just wants to chat over telling him how shit should be done. And it's a relief to me that he has done a roaring trade on the Vol 1 Collection and almost all those delivered in time for the Con have been sold. I really do hope they turn a good profit from the Con, all the Mirage guys deserve that. They work so damn hard for the fans.
Had a lovely fan-gathering dinner last night. After a little bit of mis-comunication and Raka-dodging drama, which is all water under the bridge now, but at least now I can say "I woz there for some real fandom drama!' ;D
Tokka is a truely lovely and talented guy. I brought two of his prints which he signed for me, and I will so be scanning and posting when I get home. (Yeah, take that as due warning you're gonna be getting LOTS of very pic heavy posts form me over the next few, ah, *tries to add up on fingers*... months!)
I'm starting to really miss hubby and kids, but I also know I'm gonna really miss hanging with all the simply awesome people I've met from our fandom family. And I've resolved to get my arse in gear and get myself back on over to Mikey's and various other sites much more regularly than I have been these past few years. Just so I can keep in better touch with those who aren't on lj.
Peace out dudes.
