マイナスの導火線に閃きを燈せ

LET'S LIGHT THE FLASH OF THE NEGATIVE FUSE
SCREW just released BRAINSTORM on September 21st made the first appereance on ViSULOG! The lead song BRAINSTORM is a famous song that once people listen to it they will not be able to forget the beautiful arrangement of the melody and the story. We interviewed the 5 members of SCREW about the thought of their music.

――Tell us about the origin of the band's name!

Byou : I thought I wanted to "screw" the feeling and the meaning of the word so I named after it.

――When did the new member join the band?

Byou : Rui on the bass became a new member of the band in February 2010.

―― Is it on purpose that the compilation songs were written by each of the members?

Kazuki : We never aware of who would be the composer. Rather than that, since it's a single, we wanted to put in different type of songs. It's often that when we choose different type of songs, the composers are also not the same by chance.

――The lead song BRAINSTORM was composed by Kazuki, what image did you have of this song?

Kazuki : I composed the shape that was interprated in my head based on the title BRAINSTORM that has been thought before.

――Is the title BRAINSTORM Byou's idea?

Byou : I thought the sound was cool, so it was decided to give title BRAINSTORM to the lead song. It is often to fail to decide from the meaning, so it's decided mostly from the sound. However that song, I haven't decide that the song was BRAINSTORM yet Kazuki's song was selected.

――Is it often to decide the song title before making the song?

Byou : It is. I often tell the members the title and the details of the song lyrics I want to write.

Kazuki : Until now, after getting the words from Byou, I usually look for a song from my song stocks which is almost near with his word. While BRAINSTORM, I started making the song from zero after getting the title. That was the first time I made a song this way.

――What was the image of the first time you heard the word BRAINSTORM?

Kazuki : In the BRAINSTORM there are many meanings. Although it's up-tempo, it's also have a quiet part. It wasn't only an image of power. I also had an impression of disturbance like storm, so I took in that image to the arrangement.

――How about the song lyrics?

Byou : According to the concept of the image, I think there are some negative things during our daily life. It would be great if we aren't chained to them and could go to change that into good potential. So I put that massage into the song contents.

――Fester was composed by Jin, what image did you have of this song?

Jin : Rather than a lead song, this is a coupling song that I made with a sense so that It would be fun at lives. When the demonstration, the hook part was a bit melodious. But I was told to make the hook to be more violent no matter what.

――Does Jin often compose such violent songs?

Jin : It's not like that *laughs*

Byou : Jin's songs intro, A-melody until B-melody are powerful, but the hook become melodious. I know my wording is bad but it's like "the ruined heading".... *laughs*

All : *roar of laughter*

Jin : Bad wording indeed! *laughs*

Byou : I told him I wanted the power from the intro to be the same until the hook. So this time, I got a wild hook *laughs*

Manabu : Even until now when Jin presented songs, Byou often had thoughts like that. It's often that Jin's songs become amazingly violent at the end, isn't it.

Jin : NICE BACKING-UP *laughs*

――How about the song lyrics?

Byou : Actually that one and L'Oiseau bleu are twins. Fester was written from an anger point of view of a person who coudn't understand her companion despite wanting to undertand each other, while L'Oiseau bleu was written from a sad point of view.

――That L'Oiseau bleu was composed by Manabu, wasn't it?

Manabu : I just composed that one when we all presented songs. It was selected since we need such song. I like the strong point of that song.

――Even now, are there many such medium songs like that?

Manabu : It's not like that. It's just because everyone writes songs. If I think of my own songs, I often compose that kind of songs. SCREW is often has image of violent songs with shout and cry. But since there are also many easy-listening songs, I think if I could present songs like those.

――What's the meaning of L'Oiseau bleu?

Byou : It's "blue bird" in French.
