Okay, so I just finish leaving my insane comment on the last chapter and this appears. Perfect frigging timing. But I'm so sad about Bobby! I know, I've romanticized him way too much in my mind as some kind of doting uncle, and he still retains some of that aspect in this chapter... see this just comes back to what I was saying in the last chapter about you not pulling any punches about the reality of this situation, and how bad it really is. People who have known Sam and Dean since childhood are backing away, and in the hunting community that's pretty significant.
But I digress on that point. Something I really love is the speech patterns for the different loa, especially Latwa's. Buckaloose just killed me, seriously, I love it so much. I love that Sam owns the cafe, among other things. I love that Dean seems to have hit a turning point in this chapter,
I’m tired, you’re tired, so we’re going to go sleep, and when we wake up, I am going to fuck you so hard you won’t be able to walk for a week and you’ll be a cranky little bitch
( ... )
I loved your insane comment! And yes, I hear you about Bobby. I tend to romanticise him a lot as well, I think most fic-writers do, and I was going to do the same here, but the more I thought about it, I was like, y'know, this vodou? John's worried about people going after Sam, Gordon does, and no one's telling Dean a thing. Why would Bobby be any different, just because he knows them? Or, rather, because he knows them, how is he going to react differently? and this happened. It is bad, it's not good, never good, and if I can show it in how Bobby reacts instead of out-and-out saying it, that's the way I'll choose every time, no matter how much I personally dig Bobby
( ... )
Wheeeee! The advantage of you posting an hour early? Is that I'm still awake when it pops up :oP
Love how Dean finally found Sam, and although I'm sad that Bobby's backing away from them, it's painfully real because I can see how that would happen.
The last bit nearly broke me, Dean trying to work out how to convince the loa that he was right for Sam, what he needed, and in the end where he took Sam upstairs to bed was sweet and sad and hopeful all at once... basically? Can't wait for the last chapter, just so that I can go through and read this all the way through all over again!!!
I had words with Bobby, I really did, but he's right on track with this. He knows enough about vodou to respect it and leave it alone. In some respects, that's the best advice he can give Dean, the best help, just being honest about it and concerned, but at the same time, showing Dean just where the line is.
I got some- honest! It was only 11:30ish when I was reading this chapter... and I didn't work yesterday so I slept in really late lolol ;o)
And I agree about Bobby- he loves those boys, but he's also a mentor of a kind, and it's his job to try to support and guide them as best he can... not get himself involved and killed!
You’ve been clouding his mind?” Dean asks, nearly in a whisper, because that’s too much to think of, too much to consider, that without him, Sam would rather let the loa have control, would rather not remember the past few weeks, the past couple months.
*whimper* You really are trying to break me. You ARE.
I love that it's Dean's love that sort of brings Sam back to reality. I love that Dean just takes charge and says what he needs and wants, puts Sam to bed and that's that. I really like that Dean seemed to finlally find respect (wrong word...understanding? common ground?) with the supernatural things in Sam and around them.
*Hugs* Aw, Wendy, I don't do it on purpose, I swear. And yes, this is my favourite aspect of this chapter: Dean just takes charge and says what he needs and wants, puts Sam to bed and that's that. Because it is, y'know?
I KNOW that's why it broke me! They're just trying to protect what's theirs, and that ALWAYS hits buttons in me like you wouldn't believe >.> *GOD it effing SUCKS doesn't it???*
*chirrs and accepts* Good. Now I just have to be patient for another day. *considers rereading Bloodlines for about the fifth time* *wants some threesome pics to use for BII's header* *pops on aluminum foil hat so's you can't see what else I have planned*
Oh, protective ANYONE hits my buttons. Sigh! *Yes, yes, and YES. Grr.*
Bloodlines! You might be happy to know that I actually pulled up the Word files for II and III and re-read them over the weekend, as well as the notes I have for both. I wrote 100 words, too! (Which isn't that much, but I'm getting back into the storyline, WOW, it's been a while.)
Thanks for the comment! I just have this mental image of what it would be like for Baron Samedi to ride Dean, and the way the two of them interact, man, the hilarity of that would be hard to top.

"Ain’t seen nothing tighter than your head since I be fucking my way into a virgin’s cunt."
"That’s an image I was fine living without," Dean drawls
*giggles* These two have such awesome dialogue.
I loved that chapter. It was glorious in its awesomeness. Go You!
