It's been eons, it seems, since my last post, where I said I'd be going to DreamJournal or something. That never panned out. I spend too much time on FB, IG, and Twitter for that.
I heard LJ was shutting down, so came over here to shout into the void one last time (or maybe a few more times?). So much has happened since 2017, but I'll sum it up:
•I needed a hysterectomy.
•I got breast cancer.
•I had brain surgery with stents put in.
•My beloved Evin (my feline, my familiar) passed away.
•We adopted a slew of cats, mostly ferals. We had them all spayed/neutered. 6 live inside, 5 live outside.
•COVID-19 was a thing (still is). We all went into quarantine. My husband has been working from home since March 2020. 4 out of 5 of us are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
•We have a new president. He's not an orange idiot who talks about himself in the 3rd person and kisses dictators' backsides... and his wife is a teacher with a doctorate, and she hasn't posed nude for photos.
•Our middle son earned his Eagle Scout rank.
•I discovered a love for food and travel memoirs... but still love cozy mysteries!
This year, so far, I've read 31 books. My goal is to read 52. My garden is doing well, a little slow-going, but is set up as I want it, finally. We're going on our first vacation in 3 years, soon - this time, we're leaving our sons at home, since all are old enough (and have jobs). We've gutted and reconstructed our oldest son's bedroom, gave our laundry room a makeover, installed a backyard patio, bought a freezer, bought a new truck, and I have started walking 5Ks, again. Sadly, my husband lost two friends within a 6-month period, and one of the feral cats I cared for passed away.
Otherwise, all is well enough. We're still here, still kicking. I don't know how long this is going to remain here, but it's nice to know LJ still is around, even if for not much longer.
Enjoy your holiday weekend, American friends! 🇺🇸
