Just heard from my dad in that many of the bodies that come floating up after hurricanes and flooding in these sub-sea level areas like New Orleans, are people who died from snake bites.
The snakes swim up to higher ground just like people. And if it's you, a small patch of land, and a bunch of snakes...well, you can see what happens. That is one of the most gruesome deaths I can think of.
