death and taxes
so recently my mom mentioned the fact that she is starting up her tax business again this year (she has been doing it for 5 years and this is her first time devoting time and effort into getting clients on her own) and i thought about the idea of doing taxes myself as a part time extra money job. i need to be in a place where i have a couple thousand dollars put aside for emergencies (which seem to come up more than i would like) plus i will need to buy a car SOONER than later and it would be nice to have something to put down on the thing when i do.
so my mom said i could apprentice with her this year as long as i got a tax course under my belt. i found a local tax agency who is doing an online/in-store class and i signed up. the owner is way nice and is letting me do it for free (for now) and i may even end up with a part time job at one of his stores in the evening and on the weekend. PLUS i will be working for my mom too. the guy pays hourly as well as per return (certain %) and my mom pays per return. so i am doing it. finished a couple of the lessons and it isn't too bad. a bit hard at first but once i got it, it works. my mom does taxes because he geniunely wants to stiff the gov't... well more than work the gov't, so that honest people can get as much back as possible... where this guy is the run of the mill tax agency... bring your stuff in, we follow the protocol and get you what ever the tax software says you get.
anyway... so... as you are all my friends, i want to offer you the chance to get your taxes done by my mom and i, as we want to HELP you. so if you are interested, please let me know by leaving your name and phone number. begining to mid january, we will start everything and give you a call to help you figure out what you will need to gather to do your taxes. i know most people just have their parents do it or someone they know do it... but now is the chance to see if you have been getting everything you could be getting... if you are a skeptic, we will do a free tax evaluation for you. if we can't get you more, you can go with your regular person... but what's the hurt in trying?
other than that, just working my butt off and surviving every day. i know that sounds bad, but its true. the only thing i am looking forward to right now is seeing daniel every day, seeing my family and friends in may and well... having money for food. the money situation just seems to get worse. daniel has had work in two weeks and i dont see it getting any better as the holidays approach.
fuck you recession. and the fact that we aren't seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for possibly another few years! wtf man! this is just crazy. i sure hope by then i have enough money to buy a house, a car and whatever other big investments i might need while prices are down.
