Goodbye Halloween

So, the halloween season has come to a close and man, it was a fun one! Probably the best halloween so far!!! Last Thursday we had our work Halloween bash and wow, was it incredible! I had heard that the AAD takes halloween seriously, but I didn't believe it until I saw it. Our team dressed up as the AAD Days off (i.e., sick day, half day, new years) and we won third place. Facilities had transformed their entire work station into a jungle complete with plants, leaves and it was incredible! Their costumes were amazing too!! They took first place. Second place went to the team who dressed up as all of the star wars characters. There was food EVERYWHERE! They had your typical halloween sweets, but they even had sliders, root beer floats, sub sandwiches, hot dogs, perogi's and more. Amazing doesn't even begin to describe it. I am very happy that I work at a place that likes to have fun and let their employees have fun.

On Halloween Friday, I took the day off. I spent the first half of the day at Midas getting my brakes fixed. It was the 4th time I brought my car in for extremely squeaky brakes and grinding noises and they still insisted that my brakes were fine. However, they did mention that it was common for my specific brake pad to squeak, so they upgraded them and they FINALLY don't squeak anymore! YAY!!! You have no idea how much I am happy about that! Anyways, for lunch I met up with Jon at Sears corporate and we had some delicious sushi. After that, I went home and got my costume on to get ready for the trick or treaters. Our neighbors had told us that normally they don't get a lot of trick or treaters, so I only bought one bag of candy. Yeah, that didn't last long. We had SO many kids that when we ran out of candy, we started to get creative and give away plastic halloween straws and packages of microwaveable popcorn! It was too funny trying to run around the house trying to find things to give away... HAH!

Around 8:30, we got together with Adam, Lora, Shannon and Katie (our neighbors) and drove over to our Neighborhood dive bar, The Outpost, to go celebrate halloween. It was a TON of fun. They had karaoke, creative halloween shots and the costumes were fun too. Scott, Suzy and Roger met up with us as well and were hilarious with their costumes. Around 11ish, we drove about 5 minutes to Gilberts to go to Crusin's, only to find out that it sucked and we missed the costume contest, d'oh! So, we drove back to the outpost after grabbing some bar food and by the time we got back, they were closing. Bummer! So, we went and hung out at Adam's and Lora's for the remainder of the night.

Saturday we didn't do too much. We woke up late and lounged around. I went grocery shopping for the week and decided to make Jon one last final fall dinner to bit adieu to fall. We had a late dinner, but I made Pumpkin Sloppy Joes and Creamy Pumpkin soup with Cinnamon Croutons. Delicious! We were so full and happy that we just watched a little bit of TV and went to bed early.

Sunday my mom and sister made the journey to Pingree to come out to lunch with me. We went to Ruby Tuesday over on Randall and then stopped at Woodman's to buy Lisa her Blossoming Onion kit for her party this coming weekend. When I got home, I took down all of the halloween stuff (which was quite a task!) and then went for a walk around the lake with Shannon.

November 4th was my sister's birthday and also Election day and I am so happy that Obama won!! I think it means great things for our country's future, and it is great to see everyone so happy and full of hope right now. Hopefully, only good things are to come. That night, Lora and I had gone out to the Outpost for a drink and we started talking to the owner and some of his friends and we convinced them to have a Fugly sweater party in January! So, I am going to design the flyer and the owner said he would get a DJ for that night, too fun!!

Anyways, this weekend Jon and I are going on a date for Thai food Friday and then Saturday I am going to my sister's birthday party at her Villa in Justice and Sunday is Lisa's bday dinner with the family at Maggianos. Good times, good times.
