So, I have a Droid phone, I bought it a while back.
Part of activating the phone required me to get a Gmail account.
After the Bullshit with their buzz app socially networking you with anyone you have ever had email contact with, I don't trust google to have any of my personal information on Gmail.
I am forced to have the phone connected to the account for a lot of basic functionality, though. As a security thing, I turned off every form of syncing with google, and so far that hasn't damaged the functionality of the phone in any way.
Until now.
See, Gmail has a built in calendar you can use for appointments and whatnot. It turns out the calendar app is tied to that. You can turn off calendar syncing in the phone. Cool, that SHOULD make it so new appointments and events are stored locally. I think you can see where this is going. The stupid phone cannot create a new event if the sync is turned off. You cannot add a separate calendar. When not synced, the calendar is basically worthless.
WHY THE FARK DOES IT LET YOU TURN OFF THE SYNC WHEN IT IS REQUIRED TO BE ON FOR BASIC FUNCTIONALITY?!
It makes no sense whatsoever!
