So it's snowing here, way more than usual. we're supposed to get 10 inches of snow, and it's already mixing with sleet and ice. Ryan is leaving work right now, because Union County is at a Level 2 snow emergency, which in Ohio basically means stay the fuck off the roads (differentiated from a Level 3 in that you can't get arrested for driving yet). Let me inform you that Union County is about a minute from our condo (part of Dublin is in Union). Fricking Ohio State has even cancelled classes, which NEVER happens (they're like Purdue in that regard, which, oh yeah, they cancelled school today, too!), and let me remind you that they are like 30 seconds from my work. Most of our significant others have been let out of work in the last hour or so. But us? No, we get to stay at work. Apparently our work is just so important, and a Level 1 snow emergency doesn't make any difference. Biweekly/monthly science publications - we have dealines to meet, no time to be safe! right.
It's not so much that I'm worried about all the snow. Hello, I grew up in Chicagoland. But I'm partly not wanting to be on the roads with the crappy Ohio drivers who can't drive in snow and have it take me an hour to get home (probably more, it took me that long to get TO work with only 2 inches of snow on the ground).
But mostly, I'm just being childish and want a snow day to hang out at home!
Maybe tomorrow, if this ice/snow keeps up all night ...
