So, Day 6 and Day 7 are going to be a combined post, because they're two podfics from the same series. Actually, there's kind of a funny story to go with tonight's podfics... or, funny in a ha-ha-how-did-this-take-so-long-seriously kind of way.
Once upon a time, in 2010 (back when we still lived in the Old House), I read a series of three stories written by
nixa_jane (or possibly,
laytoncolt - I forgot which was hir screenname and which was hir comm when I first recorded/coverarted the podfic, so....I'm not entirely sure which name I actually mentioned in the final draft), about John Sheppard as a sex-line operator, and Rodney McKay as the obstreperous phone-caller. The series was completely hilarious - Rodney was spot-on, and John was laid-back in all the best ways, and the relationship between the two of them progressed both naturally and humorously. So, obviously, I asked the author for permission to record. Back in 2010.
I started recording the series a) before I really knew a whole lot about the tricks of GarageBand, b) while developing a headcold, and c) in Middlest Sister's bedroom. I'm not entirely sure why I decided to record in her room - I think I was feeling a little bit "neener neener neener, I'm in your roooooom", but other than that, no idea. So....while I was able to make my way through stories one and two of the series, I got too sick (and then we moved) to recreate the same conditions of recording for part three. And, since I'm a little bit anal about making all my matching parts sound the same, I pretty much sat on my podfics of
laytoncolt/
nixa_jane's
The Hotline (John meets Rodney via sex hotline, and the courtship commences) and
The Party Line (Rodney introduces John to his coworkers, hijinks ensue) until I'd be able to make part three sound the same. But, well, no headcold is ever the same (apparently, they're like snowflakes like that), and in the last two years I haven't been able to make the voices sound right whenever I try to re-record.....
So, well, here - two years after the fact, you can now listen to podfics of the first two parts of a three-part series (also, they were the thrid and fourth stories I ever asked to podfic. Crazy). I highly suggest that you go off and read
Ring Off after listening to these two, because that one's got John discovering his ATA gene (as well as staking out Rodney's conference, and glaring suspiciously at Samantha Carter).

***The Hotline is being used to fill the "merchants" square on my
au_bingo card - I figure, a merchant is anyone who sells something, and John's selling his sexy voice in this one ;-)
