We have reached Day Two of the First Annual Podficiversary, everyone, and it's so very exciting. Also, it was the last official swim meet of the Red Devils' summer 2011 season (just Championships on Thursday, and the Team Dinner next weekend.... *tear*), and we lost by nearly 200 points. But, there waas a lot of cheering, and everyone had a good time at the meet, and if Littlest Sis is not a shoe-in for the Most Improved Swimmer trophy this year, the coach may get kicked in the shins.
Anyway. You're here for the podfic, not for updates on the Red Devils' 4-1 losing seaon. So, podfic for you!
Tonight's lovely installment is actually the very last podfic I recorded in the old house. I'm not sure if you can notice it (or if it's just my neuroses showing up again), but the slightly echo-y quality to my voice in this one is a result of podficcing in a room that has been emptied of all furniture and personality *sob*.
But, the story itself is full of humor and personality!
Five Packages Charles Xavier Did Not Order [and one he did], written by
12gatsunohime, is a fantastic five-times fic which chronicles the adventures, escapades, and eccentricities of the residents of Xavier Mansion......after a sex-toy catalogue arrives in the mail. Get ready to giggle - it's adorable like whoa.
And, because I have very little impulse control, I made coverart! Here, take a look:
If you look closely, you'll notice that the package is addressed to
Anon Y. Mouse
1407 Graymalkin Lane
Salem Center, NY, 10560
which is the canonically accurate address of the X-Mansion. (And, yes, I did know that from memory.)
And, if you look really REALLY closely, you'll notice the stamps on the package - vintage, released by the United States Post Office in Norwalk, Connecticut, on July 28, 1962. If your eyes aren't equipped with super-zoom, here, let me show you the stamp:
Appropriate, no? (And, for all you philatelists out there, check out some more stamps from the same era as XMFC
here.)
Anyway, now that I'm done showing off my mad cut'n'paste skizillz, feel free to download the mp3 of Five Packages... right
over here (thanks,
paraka, for hosting me!), or, you can stream the story by clicking below:
Enjoy!
