Gah! It's coming up to the end of
amplificathon, and I'm starting to scrape the bottom of my hoarded-podfic barrel. Not that these podfics are any less worth listening to than anything posted earlier in the 'fest, but because all that's left now are the shorter podfics that got shunted to the end of the list ('cause I don't like posting less than 10 minutes of podfic at a time - it seems, I dunno, sloppy somehow). So, instead, you're getting a big bunch of short listening.
AMP 2011: Day 69
I probably should have posted something porny here, hehe, but I'm feeling a bit porned out from last week. Instead, we're going with the theme of Lord of the Rings --> LotR/ST:xi --> Star Trek Reboot. Let's get cracking.
The Lord of the Rings podfic is
Coloring Wizards For Fun And Profit: A Short Guide To The Third Age, written by
thingswithwings. Now, I know that everyone knows about Gandalf the Grey, and Sauroman the White, and some even remember Radaghast the Brown, but hardly ever does it cross my mind (and even more seldom, I suspect, does it cross yours) as to how those colorful appellations came into being. Sure, there are the knee-jerk associations of purity and elderly solemnity and wisdom and all that, when you contemplate the Maiar, but - well,
thingswithwings makes the entire idea of Name That Wizard an even more fun game than Tolkein managed.

The LotR/ST:xi crossover podfic is
Of Head Wounds And Horses, written by
caitri. Jim and Bones crash-land on Arda, and have a run-in with the Rohirrim. That's all you need to know - go, run, and
download the mp3 right now!
The Star Trek Reboot podfic is
The More You Know, also written by
caitri. You know those PSAs that all the major television networks run, about 'getting active' and 'recycling' and 'avoiding peer pressure', as hosted by your favorite actors owned by those networks? Well, post-Narada, the Heroes of the Federation are asked by Starfleet's PR Department to make a few PSAs themselves. It goes....about how you'd imagine.

AMP 2011: Day 70
For today's podfic post theme, we're going for a trip to the DC Universe. They're all really short podfics, but cute and worth listening to nonetheless.
First up, we've got three podfics of stories written by
liviapenn.
- Small Unit Tactics is a two-minute-long glimpse into Titan's Tower - Raven, the Boys, and a Goo Canon. Personal aside: I regularly watched Teen Titans on Cartoon Network while in High School - and, I may or may not have once re-arranged the time of a babysitting job so that I wouldn't miss the end of an episode....maybe. Download the mp3 here.
- Brass Ring is six minutes spent with Harleen Quinzel (aka, Harley Quinn) in the Batman: The Animated Universe, just after she gets out of Arkham. It's a really neat look at what Harley's like when she's in one of her sane periods - download the mp3 here.
- Oh, the places you'll go is another six minutes of podfic, this time visiting with Tim Drake and Bart Allen of Young Justice. It's just so cute, how awkward they are: it makes you want to both smack them and snuggle them. Download the mp3 here.
And, finally for tonight, we've got
I'm not a sucker, so I don't need a bodyguard, written by
musesfool. A crossover between Angel the Series and Batman: The Animated Series, this fic introduces Cordelia Chase (post-Ascension) to Bruce Wayne.
musesfool absolutely captures Cordelia's voice - her snark, her sarcasm, and her standards that Gotham just isn't meeting right now. Plus, there's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it allusion to Slayerfest '98, which made my Buffy-loving heart go pitterpatter.

Anyway, I'm going to be making a better attempt to get everything posted on the Day Of, as opposed to Eventually. There's only a week left, at any rate - it can't be that hard, right? And, if I haven't answered your comment or PM back in a timely manner, can I give you a rain-check on answering you back after The Move? We just heard from the real estate lawyer (who has been, in my mild-mannered and non-spitefull opinion, a jackass of epic proportions throughout this entire process) that due to "unforeseen circumstances", our moving date has been changed from June 20th to "on or around June 20th" - which means, any time within two weeks before and two weeks after that date. Just - so much uncertainty, and too many boxes, and not enough time for things like polite correspondence, and the moving company STILL hasn't given us an estimate yet. Just.....ugh. Anyway.
Enjoy the podfics, I'm going to bed now.
