AMP14 - Day Forty-Nine

Holy crapola. I can't believe it's over. FORTY NINE DAYS OF PODFIC. I actually feel like this year was a very low-key year for me, posting-wise. I didn't go nuts when it came time to GET ALL THE POINTS, and I felt pretty relaxed throughout the entire two-month period. Last year's goal of a crossover a day was nice, but... never again. Uh-uh. I like this year's model, of a minimum of 10 minutes a day.

Amplificathon 2014 ended at 8:00 this morning, here in New York. I was one of the last people to post before the deadline, and it just felt really GOOD to have posted a podfic every day of the 'fest. I need to check the spreadsheet (Podficcer/Spreadsheet OTP, anyone?), but I'm pretty sure I posted over TWENTY-FOUR HOURS of audio (definitely over 50 individual podfics), over the course of the 'fest. I'm good with those kinds of numbers. I'm happy.

Anyway, are you ready to know what my last podfic of AMP14 is?

Why It's Awesome: I know I'm mixing my mythologies with this one, but the lyrics of "Icarus" are perfect for both Buffy's situation ("You're putting up your armor when you leave / And you leave because you're certain / Of who you want to be"), and Loki's mentality ("Living beyond your years / Acting out all their fears / You feel it in your chest"). I loved how they're both so jagged in this one (by contrast to for the sea like navy men and Complimentary Messes), and neither Buffy nor Loki are making an effort to blunt their sharp edges. There's a palpable grief in Buffy's actions and Loki's reactions, but pprfaith never lets that overwhelm the story. Plus, the ending? Yep, I'd like to sign up for the Morally Ambiguous Supervillains Newsletter, please and thank you.

pprfaith gets her own tag, fandom: thor, fandom: avengers, other people's fanfic, fandom: buffy the vampire slayer, podfic, amp 2014, there's a girl in my bunk!, i made coverart!
