Sebastian Shaw is the primary Bad Guy of X-Men: First Class. Sebastian Shaw is a manipulative, conniving, all-around evil bastard. Sebastian Shaw wants to instigate global thermonuclear war, with a side order of international genocide. Sebastian Shaw worked for the Nazis, and liked it. Sebastian Shaw thinks the five basic torture groups (blunt, sharp, hot, cold and loud) are just a guideline for beginners. Sebastian Shaw is not a nice man.
And yet, for the first time in the history of ever, I find myself pitying Sebastian Shaw. His life is so hard.
You can blame this unexpected sympathy for XMFC's ultimate villain on
entangled_now's truly hilarious story,
And Then The World. The world's most advanced submarine, armed with torpedos and staffed with a handful of uncountably dangerous mutants - and yet, poor Sebastian Shaw is climbing the walls with aggravation, frustration, and irritation. It's awesome.
The Intro/Outro music for this podfic is
The Phoenix, as performed by Fall Out Boy. Take a look at these lyrics, and just try to tell me that they aren't an accurate summary of Shaw's Manifesto: Hey young blood / Doesn't it feel like our time is running out? / I'm gonna change you like a remix / Then I'll raise you like a phoenix. That's right, Shaw wants to change the world, and then raise his new order from the flames. (The Phoenix is totally the theme song of Shaw's mutant revolution.)
