Happy Thanksgiving, United States friends! Happy Thursday, international friends!

Guess what? I've got a podfic for you. And, heh - Thursday...Thorsday... it's an Avengers podfic!

I think I developing some serious Avengers = Family feelings, actually, and tonight's podfic didn't stop those feelings from growing. Golden Rule Days (Our Modern Family Belongs To Us), written by caitri, is just... so nice. Clint and Natasha have a kid, and she's the most precocious five-year-old, and it doesn't hurt that she's being somewhat co-parented by the rest of the Avengers. There are all these Found Family Feelings, and how even superheroes can make parenting mistakes, and the best family portrait ever.

Golden Rule Days... opens with on a scene where the Avengers are watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which is why I sat on posting for such a long time with this podfic. (Podfics with parade balloons MUST be posted on Thanksgiving. Obviously.) And then there are warm fuzzy feelings, and snark, and trips to the American Museum of Natural History (which is my favorite - I love how much love for NYC caitri puts into this story), and Tony Stark's Club For People Who Have Been Expelled ("She wasn’t expelled, we took her out.") From School, and and and... all the love. Best best best.

One of the things I paid a lot of attention to, while recording this podfic, was the way I read Kat's voice - she's a little kid, which is why I tried really hard to model her vocal patterns on a certain child I babysit for who is also five years old, and yet she's definitely mature for her age, which is why I kept the baby-talk out of my podfic entirely. If you feel that I've captured Kat's voice inadequately, feel free to drop me a line, and I'd be more than happy to talk about it with you.

This story fills me up with warmth and the urge to hug people (even my sisters), and I hope it does the same for you, as well. The Intro/Outro music for this podfic is Tom Chapin's Family Tree (because how could I not!? Take a listen to the Outro verse in particular, and just try to tell me it wasn't written with Natasha and Clint in mind). Podfic coverart is the back of Kat's head, because I couldn't decide which child actress was the best fit for the front ;-P

Running just twenty minutes long, this podfic can be downloaded as an mp3 right over here (thank you, paraka, for hosting me!) OR you can stream the story by clicking above.

fandom: avengers, other people's fanfic, podfic, i made coverart!, there's a girl in my bunk!
