Today's ep made me headdesk a lot. Just... nothing makes sense! It's like watching badfic being acting out, but not nearly as entertaining.
Set aside how the medical stuff is so totally off in space as to fact (why exactly did Reid die? ALL HIS ORGANS SEEMED FINE FOR DONATION. :|), I'm so completely disheartened with how they wrote Noah.
Sigh.
I was looking forward to this ep, thinking he would hear the news and run to be at Luke's side. Kinda just sat there, stunned, when he started digging his heels in. WTF, writers. How is that in keeping with Noah saying he loves Luke? Kept expecting him to explain that he wants to be there, but, y'know, wouldn't that be awkward for Luke and how he wouldn't want to add to his grief. Then I kept waiting for Ali to really get in his face, especially after the stressful day she'd put in, and be his Michael Novotny to kick his butt back to help his Brian. But... nothing but her disappointed face.
That said, Noah's had a whole minute to process all his feelings at the news, so I will give him a little slack. And it looks like from the preview for tomorrow that once he does have time to think, he'll redeem himself and end up at Luke's side. But still. Hella disappointed. I think because I wanted his initial gut reaction to be, "Where is he, Ali? I have to find him right now." I really did enjoy that glimpse we got of him and Luke standing together again at the pond. There's been so much hurt, I really need the comfort to go along with it. ♥
Also didn't like that apparently Luke was alone the entire night and into the next morning. WTF. It comes off as so OOC for Lily to stay away from her son, no matter what he said. I'm assuming they were trying to show that Luke was determined to see Reid's heart to the end of its journey, so to speak, before he could step back and actually let himself start to feel what had happened; that seeing his parents would cause him to breakdown and if he started crying, he'd never stop. But it just didn't work for me, Lily and Holden not being at the hospital the whole time, even if only in the background to give Luke his space. And then they leave town. WTF. Like it took both of them to search? One should have stayed.
Soon as the uncle wasn't home, knew he'd be at the park playing chess. Every movie ever to mention chess has that scene. Can't find 'em? To the park!
Lily seems delighted by Reid being "shy" in that clip, but honestly, wee!Reid shrugging off the creepy uncle's touch gave me bad vibes. Didn't like how that scene played out at all. But I did like that we got the older footage of Reid to begin with! I'd been curious after the last ep mentioned that he never had a home if we'd get more on that. Of course, we finally get some actual background info on him... the day after he dies. And it's not even happy info. Fabulous.
Did anyone try taking Brad's belongings out of his and Katie's house HOURS after he died? WTF, show.
Why was Lucinda even in this ep? :|
I did love how Ali made sure Luke knew that the operating room was respectful, that everyone there knew Reid and what he'd done. Loved how the first thing Luke does when he walks into Chris's room is check the heart monitor. And him (and Lily) not taking any of the lawyer's bullshit.
And most of all, I reallyreally loved Van's acting. Made my heart hurt, Mr. Hansis. ♥
