We put up the bookshelf/cabinet and then loaded the ancient stereo, most of the games, and the important books onto it. We did not put the cardboard backing on it so that you can reach the electrical outlet for the stereo. However, this may have been a mistake, as the shelf is lacking some cross-bracing stability without it. We didn't throw out ( Read more... )

One of the cabins in our summer neighborhood is for sale. It's an absolutely stunning little house, and is at least as nice in person as the photos make it look. I totally love this cabin! The tricky part is that the cabin is located on leased Forest Service land. So anyone who buys the cabin would be doing only and just that. The land it's ( Read more... )

I picked up the framed watercolors yesterday. I owe my consultant a big thank-you for how well the colors turned out. Triple matting may be expensive as all get-out, but the results really make these pieces look good, as well as precious and important.

We met up for lunch in Grass Valley. Dad is looking really good. Mom is looking far less stressed (than when I saw her in June). It was a nice, light-hearted lunch at a place where Dad could enjoy the food. Then we went to a store full of fossils and rocks that we could all ooh and aah over together ( Read more... )

We went horseback riding this morning, then to the fair this afternoon. The ride was amazing - there is so much snowmelt still that there are spring flowers even now. The fair was fun. We saw a pink tractor, really bad bellydancing, and lots of cows and sheep.

The 69th World Science Fiction Convention will be in Reno, NV this coming year, on August 17-21, 2011. Sharon Lee and Steve Miller of Liaden fame will be there, too.

I ponder. Reno is an easy day-trip from the Cabin...
