I MUST find another show to do. There were rumors about Moon Over Buffalo getting cut down to an hour and being entered in the state one-act play competition, but I have no idea if that is really gonna happen...and I would REALLY like to get into another show as quickly as possible, new work schedule be damned. And because there is currently no one awake to whine to, I'm gonna post some of my options here...LOL. Whatevs.

I know no one really wants to read all this shit...I'm posting it mostly for myself, to keep it all straight. LOL.

This show will be done by the Hartford Players (of which I am a member):

IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY The Hartford Players March 2009 show will be IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY. Tryouts will be December 8 & 9, 2008 at 7 pm in Pikes Peak at the Schauer Center. A comedy by Ray Cooney, under the direction of Fred Wittenberger, there are roles for seven (7) men, ages 15 to 70, and five (5) women, ages 25 to 70. Want to play doctor?

SYNOPSIS
Set in the doctor's lounge of a London hospital three days before Christmas, the staff is preparing the annual holiday show. But that is only the sideshow. The real business is a conference of neurosurgeons. As Dr. David Mortimore is preparing his lecture that should guarantee him a knighthood, and the hospital some badly needed funds, a former nurse bursts in with the news that their fling some 18 years and 9 months ago made Mortimore a father.

The boy (emotionally high strung and under arrest for driving under the influence) is downstairs, desperate to meet his long lost Dad. Now the good doctor really practices what he preaches. Lies pile on lies, as he enlists his colleagues to deceive his wife, his boss, a police sergeant and even his newfound son. Sharp syringes, crashing wheelchairs, squirting seltzer bottles, doctors in nurse drag, and window ledge wrestling gear the farce into overdrive.

Performance dates are Fridays - Sundays from March 6th to 14th, 2009. Rehearsals are generally Monday - Thursday nights from 7-9 pm starting in mid January.

This show is at the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre (where I am currently rehearsing):

TRIANGLE - A new work by playwright Laurie Brooks, introduced to BDACT's stage by Director Diane Lutz

(I did some searching and found this: Commissioned by ASU and opening this weekend at the Tempe campus' Lyceum Theatre, the play examines the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire of 1911 - a blaze that killed 148 New York City garment workers, most female, and resulted in what's considered the worst workplace disaster before the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Brooks manages to find particular comparisons between both tragedies.

"Thousands of people witnessed this fire," she says. "Many of the girls leaped from the windows. I don't have to tell you what this reminds us of."

Not that this is simply her 9/11 play. Rather, "Triangle" ends up being an exploration of immigration, that sticky subject, interweaving the story of two immigrant teenage sisters from the early 1900s with that of a pair of quarreling modern siblings, Marlena and Isabel, who happen to be illegal immigrants from Mexico.)

Blaaaaah...that's what I've got for now.

I'm kinda intrigued by I Love you, You're Perfect, Now Change. A musical would be fun. I also like the idea that it runs for four weekends, as much as that might fuck up my social life. I love this shit. Of course, if Moon continues on as a one-act play, I'll continue to play Rosalind until the competition is over. Duh.
