Gigantic Update

Nov 29, 2009 22:56

Wow, I really haven't updated since June 4th?!?!

Well ok. Where to start... I have to go back 49 pages in my flickr to see what was going on in my life!

In June we did our first bike camping trip to O'Neill Regional Park. The ride was steep and it was hot but the trip was well worth it. We had a good group and fun times were had.

Melody, Caitlin, Jordan, John, Chris, Travis, Tim, Me.

Shortly after that trip, my mom, Tim, and I headed up to Washington state to visit my family. It was really nice to see my sister who lives in Everett, as well as the rest of my family. Crazy bunch, we are...

These are my 2nd cousins Annelise and Keira. They're twins.

Before heading back down south we made a quick trip north to Vancouver, BC.

We rode our bikes all around Vancouver and loved every minute of it.

I love Vancouver!!

We then drove to Portland (with a pitstop at my sister's house in Everett, WA) to stay with Tim's friend Mike and visit some of his other friends there.

We rode our bikes all over Portland. Of course we stopped at Voodoo Doughnut because it rules. We split a bacon maple bar. Bash me all you want, but Portland is not my favorite place ever.

Then we made it down to Ashland, OR, where Tim went to undergrad. As we were driving down, we got the news that MJ died.

So we went to Target and got a mini boombox and improvised a Michael Jackson memorial ride! We got a good number of people to go and just blasted MJ hits all over that quiet, small town.

While in Ashland, we decided to go on a bike ride around southern Oregon.

We rode from Ashland, to Jacksonville, to Medford, and back. 50 miles in all.

Next we trekked down to San Francisco. It also happened to be Gay Pride Weekend so that was interesting. Including the part where a completely naked guy was walking down the sidewalk about 20 feet behind me for about 5 minutes. Crazy town.

This time we didn't ride our bikes around, but we took the BART and the MUNI to get around. We visited the Megans at a bar and went back to Tim's aunt and uncle's house. Short stay there.

We were home for a day before we headed out again to Vegas. Tim's family just moved to Florida so this was our last trip out there before they were gone.

Tim's mom (who had already relocated to FL) made a surprise visit to see everyone. It was nice to see them.

Our 4th of July was relatively uneventful. We just went to the top of a parking structure at school and watched multiple firework shows from up there. No sound track, but far less people.

We made a little picnic after and just enjoyed the night on our own. How unsocial of us. =]

After we got home, I shot some models for the salon Jenny works at, Carlton Hair in Valencia.

This is one of Jenny's models. I also shot for 2 other stylists. It was fun.

Soon after we settled at home for the summer, a bunch of us started the "Fat Wednesday Ride". The goal is to ride our bikes somewhere and eat lots of gross food, then ride back uncomfortably.

This week the Orange County fair was in town so we rode there. This is a few of us at the Weird Al 3D show.

Going along with our summer of bike camping trips we did another one from Irvine down to San Clemente State Beach.

This was a nice little lunch break along the PCH.

And you know what we did the next weekend??

We head out again! This time we went to San Onofre State Beach to hang out with our friend Travis and his family at their camp site. The ride back from that one was sort of rough/long/tiring.

As if we hadn't had enough... we head out AGAIN the next weekend!

This time we went from Irvine to San Onofre again, but then the next day we head farther down to San Elijo State Beach, almost to San Diego.

This was the gang for this trip...

We made the best dinner that night including fondue shrimp and bread/cheese. We also had the most amazing hiker/biker site. See that ocean RIGHT next to our camp site?? =D

Another thing we did this summer was hit up a few C.R.A.N.K. MOBs.

Here I am showing off my "scraper bike". Let me just say, riding through the streets of Los Angeles with about 1,000 other people is an absolutely amazing and scary experience.

Tim and I also took advantage of the lovely weather by doing a bike picnic.

It's nice to have multiple parks very close to our apartment.

Then I turned 25 and one of the things that Tim bought me was a underwater case for my digital camera.

This was some of the gang after my birthday dinner.

I also had a friends and family birthday gathering up in Valencia.

This is my little sister and I obviously having too much fun.

At our apartment complex, an outside photographer was doing a promotion and offered a free 8 1/2" x 10" to every apartment.

We of course had to take advantage and be as cheesy as possible. We also walked away with all of the proofs and some wallets.

For Tim's 23rd birthday, he and I went on a bike ride and then had a potluck at our apt.

We had a makeshift cookie mount (cake) with a candle on top. Haha.

But with all the fun and good times, life decided it needed to balance it out and give us some loss and heartache.

My poor doggie Sugar's liver was failing and after some tough decision making, we had to make the call to put her down. She is now playing up in pet heaven with her childhood friend, my cat Harley. Rest in peace to my gentle loving golden retriever. <3

My sister Angela also had a birthday.

Let me just say, I drove her home.

I also took photos of our apartment.

We like it. It's hardly ever this clean though.

We've also been doing a bit of activism.

This was a protest regarding the budget cuts. We were waiting to confront UC President Mark Yudof but when they got wind of the protest, they moved the location of the meeting.

We went to go see Jeremy play with his band Touche Amore who opened for FAR and Thursday (!!!) at the Knitting Factory.

This was a really fun show and I'm glad we went.

And of course as always...

I had to get a picture with Jonah Matranga.

My mom got a new cat and named her Sophie (though her name may change?)

She's a little cross-eyed but I think it makes her more cute.

We've been doing Food Not Bombs on campus as often as we can.

This week we had some delicious soup. Mmm. Free food!

I finally got into a main stage show on campus!

Herbert Siguenza (from Culture Clash) will be coming to our campus to make a show with us. It goes up in March!

We also started doing a free bike clinic on campus.

Tim is the main mechanic, but I also help. We teach people how to fix their bikes for free! It's starting to get really popular and we can hardly keep up even with 4 people working on bikes at a time.

For Halloween Tim and I went as ZZ Top.

A crew of us went up to West Hollywood and at least 100 people yelled out "ZZ Top!!" to us, and roughly 30 people asked us to take pictures with them. Pretty exciting. I actually found a shot of us online that someone else took!

For my nephew Jayden's 2nd birthday we went to Kid's Concept in Torrance.

He had a lot of fun and it was fun for us to watch the kids running around being kids.

There are PLENTY more pictures, you can click on each one to see more of he same.

Ahh, I have a few more weeks of pictures to upload off of my camera, but at least I've got a start. I have a strong urge to post everything in chronological order, so all this old stuff has been preventing me from posting anything new. The newer stuff will be coming soon!

As a general life update, Tim and I have been living together since the beginning of March and it couldn't be better. We really are happy together and it's nice having each other around (when we're not both at school or working or whatever.) We are constantly planning our Vancouver B.C. to San Diego bike trip for next summer and it's shaping up well. I've begun my final year of college and it's keeping me entirely too busy. There is one more week of classes before finals for winter quarter and I can't wait until break so I can actually breathe. That's all I can think of now. I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving! Now back to homework!
