Fire in the hall!

There was a fire in the dorms the other day. It was in the Towers (where i live), but not in the hall that i live in. Supposedly someone set a couch on fire in the study room on the 7th floor. It caused $15,000 in damage because of water damage from the sprinkler system and of course fire damage. At the beginning of the year the RA's and everyone warned us not to hang from the pipes in the sprinkler system that are on the ceiling because if they happened to break, 100 gallons per minute of 4 year old, black, naaaaasty water would come pouring out and ruin all our stuff. Man, do i feel bad for those people. Apparently there was about 2 inches of standing water on the entire floor, which then leaked down to the floor beneath it, and all the way to the ground floor. It said in our school paper that there was only damage to the 7th floor, 6th floor, and a little of the 1st floor. How the water managed to skip the 5th, 4th, 3rd, and 2nd floors is beyond me, but it did somehow, so those kids are lucky. I'm just happy that it didn't happen in my hall.

moral of the story? don't set couches on fire....? i dunno, there really is no moral. i just thought it was funny that someone tried to burn our school down.

This week has been interesting for me. I'm trying to go about life as optimistic as i can, but i'm still not feeling it. ugh, here i go sounding emo again... ok done with that. gotta stop dwelling...

This wednesday was "act like a kid day" in the cafeteria. They had kid's music playing (which got really annoying really fast), hula hoops, hop scotch, karaoke, coloring, and other things. We could even make ice cream sundae's with REAL ice cream, not that nasty stuff that comes out of a machine! Also on Wednesday we met some guys from our floor who we didn't know before, which is always cool. Our RA put on a little party in the study room and we played Apples to Apples (a really fun card game). It was Mandy, Katy, me, Liz (our RA), and 2 guys Josh and Brad. It was really fun because we didn't know these guys really well, we just thought they were dumb guys from down the hall who make too much noise, and here we are all playing a game together and we find out they're actually really nice guys.

in other news, it's just me and mandy here this weekend. Katy went home cause she had to babysit for her brother and sis-in-law. It's been kinda fun so far. We helped Josh (our new friend) change a flat tire, which we felt pretty bad for him because he was supposed to drive to visit a friend but he couldn't because of his flat tire. He said in the couple years that he's had his car he's had 14 flat tires! FOURTEEN! that's a lot! I've never had a flat tire and i've had my car for almost 4 years now... *knocks on wood* That's about the extent of the weekend stories so far. there are still 2 days left to do something exciting!

Ok... i suppose that's enough of an update for now. peace out mah homies!
