bah, I'll see tomorrow.

For anyone who does not already know, I am totally dependent on my glasses to function as a sighted individual. My vision is so bad that they just stop counting after 20/200 near-sightedness. I have been wearing the same frames for half a decade, just getting the lenses updated whenever my prescription deteriorated too badly (it has been over 3 years since my last change of lenses). At work on Thursday, I took off my glasses to clean them with a napkin and they snapped at the bridge... they just popped apart in my hands. Which is a horrible feeling when you are as reliant on glasses as I am and have no auxiliary pair on which to fall-back.
I gingerly made my way to the supply room, located a paper-clip (I don't keep them in my work-space because I am afraid their proximity to my computer might summon the dreaded "Clippy" of doom), and proceeded to wrap and shape it around the existing remnants of the frame in order to keep the lenses together and wearable.
I called a glasses repair place where I was informed that they would be glad to solder the frame pieces back together for $40+. This seemed a bit odd, since the equipment required to do it costs $6.00 new, and it takes about 5 minutes to perform the soldering (three of which are spent waiting for the iron to heat to a proper temperature).
I was out anyway so I stopped off at RadioShack and picked up the required soldering kit.
Now I have temporarily mended glasses while I wait for my new ones to come in the mail, wheee. I did learn the hard way that it is hard to accurately solder my own glasses together since I can't see a damned thing without them.
Oh, and, Tails is a demi-god of online shopping.
