Nodoka felt quite at ease knowing that she had begun to learn her way around this place - Reduceres, her mind supplied. She could find her way to the grocers, to the pottery store and the hotel, which is what she was heading for now. But she still didn't understand how she was brought here. Was it magic gone wrong? Was it that mage that had killed Craig and Aisha? All that she could think, however, was that everything was fine; she was here to become better, stronger, so that next time she wouldn't fail. It was almost like an itch in the back of her head that she just couldn't get rid of ( ... )

The second time he heard her. Edgeworth turned around, and ...well, it soon became apparent that there were people here that were even worse off than him. While pity was a rare emotion for him, this girl was the very picture of pathetic. She certainly looked as though she had been through some sort of trouble, though he could not tell if this was from before or after her arrival here, and for some reason that small smile of hers only made her look worse.

"Yes, yes I was," he said, as he walked closer. "Have you seen any others here, Miss...?"

Nodoka looked down at herself and sudden realised how pathetic she looked, feeling a little bubble of shame. Brushing down the dirt from her dress, sighing quietly, she looked up with a slightly brighter smile, comforting herself more than trying to be friendly. As he moved closer all she could do was stand straighter - he was more intimidating than she had imagined.

"Ah, I see!" The girl replied quietly. "Um, a few, b-but not many." It took her a moment to realise that he was requesting her name and, flustered, she bowed quickly, her fringe covering her face. "I'm Nodoka Miyazaki! It's nice to meet you!"

"And I'm Miles Edgeworth." He bowed slightly, or at least, bowed as well as one can with an umbrella, and continued, "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss Miyazaki."

If only the circumstances were better. He paused for a moment, before it occurred to him that she was going to get soaked like this. Edgeworth held the umbrella out to her, and asked, "Are you looking for anything in particular?"

"It's nice to meet you, Edgeworth-san." Nodoka repeated, a little more comfortable now that she knew his name. He was certainly interesting looking, she decided - but she would never dare comment on it. The cravat around his neck was almost as intimidating as the rather upset look on his face that she had noticed earlier. Still, she knew it wasn't fair to judge anyone on appearances. It wasn't fair!

Taking a deep breath, she glanced up at the man again. She flushed and moved under the umbrella a little, feeling a little silly at having been unprepared, before pausing to think. "N-Not really... I was going to find a change of clothes, but I was distracted b-by the new people around."

"Understandable," Edgeworth replied. When trapped in an unusual situation, it was only natural to seek out other people for aid. He thought for a moment, and said, "I suppose I should pick up a few things for myself, as well. Perhaps we can talk along the way?"

"Ah, of course!" Nodoka nodded, her smile brightening a little more. She presumed it would be safer to have a companion - especially one as intimidating as this man seemed to be. She paused, bending down to put her shoes back on despite the small stab of pain. It was alright, she told herself, she had suffered worse. "Where do you need to go first, Edgeworth-san?"

If Edgeworth was completely honest, he would have mentioned a restaurant or a grocery store. However...well, considering the girl's predicament, a clothing store would be the best choice for now. Besides, it would do well to be a bit more considerate towards others' needs; after all, how often did he-

"I could use a fresh change of clothes," he said, interrupting that train of thought and the accompanying memories. "I suppose that puts us in the same boat, Miss Miyazaki."

Nodoka couldn't help looking down at herself and agreeing. She was sruffier than she had ever been in her life, the ballgown dirty and a little bloody from her fall earlier. She must look a sight and she knew it, blushing a little. It wasn't as though she had planned to fall over, after all. Nodding in agreement, she offered a smile.

"Y-Yes, Edgeworth-san... I fell down before, so..." That was the only way she could explain herself. Still, a small voice in the back of her mind was hissing at her, saying she didn't need to explain her every action... But she ignored it for now. "A clothes store sounds like a very good idea!"

"I see," he said. To be honest, it looked like she did much more than just fall down, but there was no need to press her at this point in time. It wouldn't tell him anything interesting, and if she wanted to talk about it...well, she would have been more upfront.

"Do you know where one is?" he asked. "A clothing store, I mean."

"N-Not exactly..." Nodoka looked around. Something inside of her was telling her it was just down the street, as though she had vague memories of living in this place long before she had arrived here. It was strange and she wasn't sure that she liked it, but if she could be of help then she could hardly feel upset at the tingle feeling...

Turning back to Edgeworth she offered a nervous smile. "I think that it's down the street, n-not far from here. I... I have a feeling it is, anyway!" She felt a little odd, saying that a feeling was directing her, but she was going to trust in it.
