No Rest for the Weary

Who: Miles Edgeworth, Open
When: Day 2, Late Morning/Early Afternoon
Where: Outside of a decent hotel; maybe other locations in the city, depending on how the log goes
What: After being kidnapped and swept into the most bizarre city he's seen, Edgeworth decides to do some investigating (and maybe get a bite to eat while he's out).

The city was an anachronism. Victorian bell towers stood on one end while modern sky scrapers stood on the other, and lost remnants of the art deco period and Frank Lloyd Wright's fever dreams filled the gaps in between. This wasn't the most unusual thing about the city, however; what struck Edgeworth the most was its complete barrenness. The shops were empty, the streets were empty, and even the hotel he stayed at last night was devoid of human presence. Such solitude would send a lesser man into panic (and make Edgeworth feel unnerved), but instinct told him that it was all right. He wasn't alone, he would be taken care of, and everything would be fine. This was the way it was supposed to be.

That, by far, was the part he loathed the most. Mysterious disappearances, soothing voices from beyond - those sort of things weren't supposed to happen!

Well, at least that blasted voice is gone, he thought to himself as he left the lobby of his hotel. When he had woken up, the voices from last night had been muted, and left a blessed silence within his own mind. However, another pest soon replaced them; now, he was hounded by memories. Memories and what-ifs, what if I had presented this piece of evidence instead of that one, what if I hadn't ignored that witness, what if I had dropped the case when the suspect-

Edgeworth ignored those thoughts. He was finished with useless guilt; the only thing he could do was move forward with his life, and ensure those mistakes were not repeated again. Besides, he had more important things to worry about at the moment besides his past - such as the mysteries of this city. Now determined, Edgeworth gripped the handle of his pilfered umbrella and stepped out in search of other residents.
