So,i've been thinking. Intimatestranger thinks that LJ should be private/friends only due to our line of work and worry over whether it is unethical to talk about work in LJ on the off chance that someone might recognize who we are talking about. I think that it defeats the whole purpose of LJ. I want to write so that people random and friends can read if they want to and if the work stuff is too personal i just won't write it any more. Any way, I just got back home yesterady after a flying visit to Brissy, we got to see Kieran, Clara, Brooke, Deanna and Mel which was great but too short. We also had the pleasure of a 50th. Talk about nerve racking. I got to meet all of the in laws at the same time and place. Overwhelming. So now it's back home and to work.
I realized the other day that i really miss hard core conversations about life the universe and everything. Since uni i have felt a progressive dumbing down of my ideologies and knowledge. I think it started when i went to my first job and half the people didn't understand what i was talking about (too new fangled for them) and then at my second job i didn't partly because i had forgotten how and partly because no one really wants to hear it. Crazy hey.
So for the next few entries i am going to use this time for some D and M think aloud Philosophising. Yeah!
To start, why are teachers so competitive?
Theories - Thay have to be good at something - why not work? (adaptation of those who can, do, those who can't, teach)
- they want to be more than just a teacher (HOD deputy Principal)?
- they need praise and acknowledgment from those around them because as a group they are undervalued by both society and their clientel?
- or they are just people who are naturally needy and know that by competing and winning (even against other teachers) they will get the attention they desperatly craze.
What do you think?
