Have 2 weeks off work now. Not used to having all this time to get ready to go away though. Going up to Heathrow on Tuesday night ready to fly Wednesday morning. Got a couple of bonuses on Friday. Firstly our United rep had already given me economy plus seats on the flights (5 inches extra legroom) but I also got some drinks vouchers plus a pass to use in the business class lounge. Can't use it at Heathrow as they don't have one in the terminal I'm flying from so think i'll use it on my way home.
Then I checked for agents rates at the hotels at Heathrow and the Hotel I'm staying in had put the price down so I rebooked it - bargain!
Had a bit of a dilema on Thursday night. Got a voicemail from Kevin who runs Select Motor Racing saying that he had a Force India paddock club ticket for $700 for the Friday. I said no thanks straight away but then I had doubts and loads of people on facebook were saying I should go for it. Anyway I looked to see what you actually get and from my point of view $700 is still way too much money. Sure you get posh food and champagne but that's not why I go to a GP. You get to watch from above the pits - not a great view if you want to see cars taking corners. You get a pit walk. Well I've done that in Monaco. You see the cars and the mechanics. Very unlikely to see a driver. I may have met one of the Force India drivers but that's only a 'may' because Dan in work did a similar thing with Ferrari a couple of years ago at Silverstone and didn't see any of the ferrari drivers. If it gace paddock access then yes I would have taken it but it doesn't so it really isn't worth it.
Anyway been looking to see if there is a pitwalk as there hasn't been a mention of one but I did find a note about driver autograph sessions over the weekend. I'm not going to get stressed about it. I'll go and whatever happens happens. Would like to get some decent photos but I have a feeling it'll be a right bun fight.
trying to think what else I need to do.
