On the fourth day of Torchweek

Jul 09, 2009 23:34

Trivia fact of the day:
I have just found out about the existence of the Cave of the Crystals in Naica, Mexico. What a flabbergasting place! I can't get over the fact that those pictures are really real, and not just tiny pictures of explorers photoshopped onto a big picture of a crystal paperweight for a laugh. If I saw it on Star Trek, I'd think ( Read more... )

I just don't even know what to think. I don't even know what to say. I am just compeletely broken.

*Ianto Jones is dead. My life is shit now.

*That warehouse with the rectangular windows is the same as the one in From Out Of The Rain

*I don't know whether to hold hope that he's alive, or that RTD has just done what he's always done, and fucked up massively.

*I don't know if I actually want to watch tomorrow, because Ianto is dead, but I probably will, because I want to know how the story ends. But Ianto is dead

:(

I noticed that about the warehouse too.

Given the way Gwen and Jack were slumped over his body, I sadly doubt very much that Ianto's coming back. Not unless Jack can give him a super-duper kiss of life (c/f: Cyberwoman)

Perhaps the last seconds of ep. 5 will be Ianto gasping awake, and turning to Jack and saying "I've just had the strangest dream", and then the kiddies all stop....

Ah, I didn't recognize the warehouse, which is odd since I'm usually fond of spotting recycled locations. However, I didn't enjoy FOOTR and only watched it once, so that explains it.

I don't know anything about Torchwood, so just re: the crystal caves: Aren't they amazing??!? I saw them in National Geographic a while ago. Just... wow. And yes, if I saw that on Star Trek I'd think it was silly too. :D

I'm utterly gutted about Ianto. It was bad enough when Tosh died. At the very least, he should posthumously Save THe Day or I will be SERIOUSLY HACKED OFF.

Honestly, Jack could have told Ianto he loved him. HE WAS DYING, Jack!

Lois - don't join Torchwood. You'll be dead within 5 years.

Very similar, certainly. I suppose that once you've made an expensive set of animatronic blinking eyes, you need to get value for money out of them.

Everytime i get my head on the pillow my brain fizzes...

1. If this is the end of Torchwood, then what a way to go out on! No slow death of pisspoor plots, characters you don't care about, and the same angst over and over again.

2. Wasn't Jacks coming back to life in the morgue wonderful? A sigh rather than a gasp, and with that moment where he pauses before getting up. Well done Mr Barrowman.

3. Gwen. Smiling at Jack being there, and then gathering herself together to look at Ianto.

4. Poor Clem - though hopefully at peace.

Yeah, Jack's sigh of resurrection was a lovely touch: I think they've really been working to keep JB's acting as low-key as possible and it's paid off.

I like Gwen anyway, but she's been absolutely stellar all this week. In fact it was her being upset that finally pushed the lump in my throat out through my eyes (so to speak).

I'm pretty sure that this must be the end of Torchwood: I'm certain that RTD just wants to close the book on the Whoniverse and go and do something else. Which is a reasonable enough wish in the circumstances.

Still processing it, and in a rare moment of seriousness i think i'm grieving. How odd. My stomach is tight, I can't sit still.

yeah. i read the spoiler on this yesterday at work and felt physically ill--couldn't eat my lunch nauseous. and, you can count me as one of the ones who was SO angry yesterday. today, now that the dust settled a bit, i am left feeling gutted and so very, very sad.

yes! in fact--the it was JB's acting that made ianto's death so moving to me. which completely shocks me. the understatedness of it, the ability to convey pure simple grief. i started sobbing once his voice broke and he was begging ianto not to go. that, and when he completely renigged any threats once he realized ianto was under the gun and could die.

all you clever people have said it so well. I am hoping that the SUV contains a duplicate Ianto and is found in Cardiff somewhere soon. Such a small straw to cling to.

Ahhhh! Genius! There's a clone of Ianto in cryo and all Jack has to do is defrost him.

I've clutched your straw.

See, my straw (all that kissing and teh!sex with Jack has rubbed off and he survives) has flaws in that Alice is able to die (or so I assume, not watching Day 4. Day 4 doesn't exist). But your straw. Plausible (at least in the relm of SciFi
