YAY, it's Friday! I had a lot of fun at the State Fair. Didn't go overboard on eating weird stuff; just a Pronto Pup (corn dog) and a bierock (it's a German thing--sort of a dumpling stuffed with beef and cabbage). And I got some cotton candy for R. The trip to Hutch was fine--nice drive. Ate at Bogey's, as per Marie's suggestion. A fairly decent burger and a delicious shake (they have like a hundred flavors, but I got chocolate covered cherry). I looked around some at the fair, but not a lot. Saw some bunnies. Watched some horsey girls show off skills, just walked around and took in the atmosphere. It's a fun thing to do and it makes me really appreciate living in Lawrence!
The KU booth was really nice and bigger than the other schools (heh heh heh) and we gave away tons of stuff. I'm glad I took down 2 boxes of library pens, 'cuz they were snatched up! I'll hafta ask Tami how many pens per box, but it was definitely A LOT! And the Jayhawk temporary tattoos are popular too. I snagged a few for myself, too, for like basketball season and stuff.
As for work stuff, I talked to Sarah (and a little bit Ela) about getting the desk students to help out with sorting when they're not busy (rather than surfing the web or doing homework when there's 3 trucks to sort). Hopefully this will also get Emerson motivated to help out, too, though I'm dubious. But at least Sarah is on my side. There are no exact deatails yet, though it's likely that our new office area will be where the Reference librarians have their offices. I don't know if that means some of them are having to go to Anschutz or what, but that's what I know so far.
Still working at Gary & Lee's on the weekends (although last Sat. I took off to go to the Lawrence 150th b-day parade and some stuff in South Park) and still enjoying it. I may alter things on Homecoming weekend, too, 'cuz I think Tami has some idea about joining in the parade and I said I'd join in.
Well, I guess it's time to get back to work...looking forward to Bucs football this weekend! Dunno if I'll get to see it yet, but I'll be following it anyway.
