Eddie in Baltimore!!

Jul 10, 2010 23:23

Good evening!! Having a wonderful time in Baltimore although the people here cannot drive!! I've driven in major cities all over North America and they are CRAZY here!! Anyway, the con was pretty good today. Eddie was his usual self, we know the guy loves to talk. He talked a lot about "Stand and Deliver" and Jaime Escalante. He pretty much retold the whole movie and has obviously been very efffected by that role and the man he played. He would love to do  a whole "Stand and Deliver" con.

He did talk about Bill and Laura and how much they hated each other at first (even though they were good friends off camera) and how Laura had bigger ones than Bill. How she pretty much took over and he followed. He did a lovely impression of Tigh making fun of him because of this. He loves to do Hogan. Also how Adama was a wreck at the end, taking pills and becoming an alchoholic, hitting the bottom of the pit, but did pull himself up in the end.

The other stories we've heard before, the last day shooting in the raptor and how awful it was and all the crew was crying. How difficult it was for Mary. He really felt it was a good ending and that Laura made it home.

My best pic and he looked down.

One story from Katee was really interesting, when they were filming the "Act of Contrition" ep, Eddie told her "you could be really good".(remember she was 22) I imagine he felt she was holding back. She called her mother that night and said "no one thinks I'm working very hard" and her mother said "no they think you are good and you need to work harder to be great." She then went in and filmed the "I killed Zak" scene with Eddie and we know how good that scene was. She said it was the first scene she did where she felt she became the character. She left that scene sobbing since it was so emotional and understood what Eddie meant.

The colour was off on this one. Again my camera was acting very weird. But yes she is a redhead now!!

And she turned around just as I was taking this, so here's a pic of her butt.

Another interesting bit from Eddie, I don't know if he's talked about this before, but he was given music from Deva Premal, I think that's the right name. It's the oldest known mantra set to music and drums. I'm trying to remember all he said about this. Well he loved it so much, he listened to it while filming the mini, over and over until he could "feel the music in the character", even listening in his sleep. So, when he was filming the fight scene with Leoben, the director said "I can't feel the music in this scene." Well Eddie gave him the piece of music and they played it over the scene and it was perfect. He thinks these are the little things that make BSG so great, all these little extra bits that have been added.

Other bits, he talked about who influenced him over the years, Paul Muni and the Lunts. From now Meryl Streep, he loves and says how she is one actor that has continued to create great films over and over when most fade. Pacino was his other choice, to a certain extent.

He talked about "Triumph of the Spirit" which I really have to see. Simon Wisenthal apparently said it was the best film about the Holocaust and that it was the only film actually shot in Auschwitz and Birkenau. They had finished scenes and when watching them back the director said it didn't ring true. They went back and re-wrote scenes each day and then filmed them as they went.

Those were many of the main points. They did have an auction for a stuffed animal at the end for a kids charity, they did this every year. It was a moose and they named it yes, Edward James Olmoose!! Anyway Eddie took in the bids and kept bidding on it himself to drive up the price. They sold it for just over $1000, but everyone including myself donated $20 bucks to the charity and they ended up getting $1000 more. It was a very nice moment and Eddie was very touched by everyone.

That's all I can think of at the moment, but I think those are all the main points. I was quite a ways back although Kastari(as you may know her) moved me up, but still my pics came out a little dark/fuzzy. The con is not the best run and they didn't clear the room for the next group. I will try to get some better ones tomorrow. My camera was doing weird things too, like not focusing. Frak!!

I'll post tomorrow after the other Q&A!! Very tired again after the day, but it was great!! Ed is cheering for Spain in the World Cup and he told me Uruguay, but that was this morning before the game. Yes, I did the picture thing! I couldn't help myself, but I did keep my eyes open unlike Spain.

One more for the road!!
