Sid sat at the Elmira bus station watching the cars roll down Church Street. He supposed this town had been something once, but time had left it a tired, shriveled shadow of its former self. Sid knew how it felt. He’d been a hunter once; a man with a different girl in his bed every night and a weapons’ locker under it. Now, he was a battered wooden puppet who didn’t even have a penis. Sid’s sigh was lost in the rumble of the train on the tracks overhead. He wished he could sleep. He wished his hunt would end.
