I have a date tonight. Through OKC.
She messaged me yesterday afternoon, then responded back at 11:30pm at a bar. Chatted back and forth for a while, it seemed that she might have wanted me to come down there, but it was getting late at that point (1:30am). We agreed to hang out tomorrow. Then she responds with a "are you asleep" at 3:30am, and when I text back she says "you can call if you want." I'm not entirely sure whether I have stared down a text message more intensely before. But as you may know, I occasionally do outlandish things because it might make for a good story later. I call. We chat. I keep her awake long enough to eat something so she (presumably) won't throw up in the morning. Not sure how that works, exactly, but whatever.
Now we're going to dinner at 6pm.
...Jesus. What am I doing?
Technically we're a 81% match. She codes for a living. She messaged me first, which is already a huge bonus in her favor, but also indicates she knows what sort of nonsense she is inviting into her life (at least in the context of a date). She's cute in her pictures. She asks quirky questions and has an interesting voice. Obviously assertive enough to instigate this whole thing. Hmm. I'm picking her up tonight, and I realize that she lives 0.3 miles away. Google says 6 minutes by walking. Oh dear.
So... yeah. This is actually the first formal, normal person date I've ever been on. What's the worst that can happen?
...don't answer that.
