First day in Porltand, Oregon

Feb 19, 2008 08:40

Well, after being mistaken for a 16 year old and much confusion and frustration with my ticket, I finally made it to my gate at the airport at 10:45am. This was a bit late considering we had arrived at the airport at 9:30am and my flight was scheduled to leave at 11:30am. So I set my stuff down and get ready to relax for a bit before we board the plane. Two seconds after I sit down I hear a voice on the loud speaker telling me that flight 593 (my flight) is being transferred to another gate. Gate C15, if anyone knows the Minneapolis airport at all, C15 is way on he other side of the airport from F5. So I grab all my shit and start booking it over to C15, I got there by about 11:00am and then was finally able to chill for about 10 minutes before being loaded on to the plane. I was a bit worried about who I would sit next to. I was in the window seat, and that was all I knew. I was hoping I would be a nice smelling woman or a nice smelling attractive man;) But it was neither! It was a huge not so nice smelling black man who got mad at me for needing to use the restroom, so because of that I didn’t eat or drink anything the entire flight. I ended up sleeping most of the flight due to a rather horrid headache and not getting much sleep the night before. Once we arrived in Portland, I was happy to be rid of the plane, I called Mike and he and Annette had already been waiting by my baggage claim area for about 10 minutes before I even had gotten off the plane. When I found the baggage claim I didn’t see either of them so I went and stood by someone and just stared into space, when suddenly on either side of me came two familiar faces. I was a bit startled, but it was worth it.. I was seeing my two best friends at last. It was a wonderful reunion. After not eating or drinking anything on the flight I was absolutely starved, so we went straight back to the apartment and had sandwiches, chips and fruit for lunch and went and ate it by the pool, it wasn’t perfect weather for an outside lunch, it was a tad chilly, but we enjoyed it anyway. After lunch we went for a hike in a beautiful Arboretum and I’m sore this morning from all the activeness but it’s a good kind of sore. After that we walked Mike to the Max station which is the subway system in Portland. Annette and I then walked back and drove back to the apartment to have some dinner and start getting ready for the Swing dancing evening we had planned. We both ate way too much and I felt kinda sick from it. Then we discussed who had gotten fatter and who felt fatter… you know.. normal girl conversations:p. We finished getting ready as fast as we could and went to pick up Mike from his class. Then we went dancing and I didn’t dance much for the first hour or so because I wasn’t feeling very well I was feeling disoriented and dizzy. There were plenty of possible reasons for that though… lack of sleep, sinuses, ear infection, the floor moving, jet lag, etc. I did end up dancing a decent amount in the last hour and it was fun. There were some decent dancers there and it was nice to dance with Mike after all this time, especially since we have both improved. After we got back to the apartment Mike started eating like he had been starved for weeks and Annette and I decided to watch a family guy Episode online. It ended up not being a very good one and plus I was falling asleep during it.. so I went to sleep after the episode and it was wonderful to finally be able to sleep!! So That’s all for now… stay tuned for the next entry which may map out my second day depending on how exciting it ends up being, but either way there will be pictures! Oh yes, there will be pictures!!
