1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Gave birth. Graduated from grad school.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't really have any. I was so freakin' tired at New Year's last year that all I wanted to do was sleep. I think it might have been about sleep, in which case, no, I didn't keep my resolution. As for next year, I hope to lose another 26 pounds and to continue to improve myself. Perhaps finally begin biking to work. There's some things I can't resolve to improve, because their accomplishment doesn't depend on me, but I still hope for them. I will also get the house into order. Since I lose at work life, I have to win at domestic life. Sheesh, I'm turning into my freshman year roommate.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Well, aside from me, three people at work who I used to know better when they worked at the helpdesk, but they have real jobs now.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My paternal grandfather died about 5:30 AM on January 1 of this year.
5. What countries did you visit?
I never even left the state. Precisely whose money was I supposed to use for all this world travel?
6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
A real job (HAHAHAHAHAHA). A clean house.
7. What dates from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 31: Mr. Baby's birthday, May 14: Graduated from grad school
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Probably the birth and grad school stuff.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I did nothing creative. I didn't get the house in order. I still have a McJob and I'm practically 30.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I was hospitalized for a staph infection.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
hmm, I don't know. I don't think I really bought anything for myself this year. I guess the best use of my money has probably been, oh, baby food or something.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
The kitties. They are very good around the baby. Lots of people did nice things for me this year as well!
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Gryphon.
14. Where did most of your money go?

16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
Beautiful Boy by John Lennon
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier. Or at least more awake. Slightly.
b) thinner or fatter? Thinner. Oh, man, if I were fatter I'd have to jump off a cliff, and there aren't any cliffs here.
c) richer or poorer? Poorer.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing. Exercising. Sleeping.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
There was a lot of time where I wasn't doing much of anything, just watching TV, but that's because Lennon nursed pretty much 24/7 for weeks and weeks. So it's not really that I wish I hadn't done nothing during that time, because he obviously needed the nourishment, but part of me is real glad he started rejecting me for a food source at about five months old and prefers bottles of my milk now. I get to spend time with him but we get to hang out and hug and play now instead. Whew.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Driving.
21. What was your favourite month of 2005?

Clean since 1998.
24. What was your favourite TV programme?
Rome!
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

26. What was the best book you read?
Neal Stephenson's Baroque Trilogy
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
OMGWTFBBQHP! GOBLET OF FIRE. #($*&()$*&ROIFUOIFU)#$*$#*&@#&
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 28 and I had cake with my mom and my husband and my three-week-old son. Also Will and I went to sushi, while Mom babysat, and that was pretty much my first time out of the house since the birth and spinal headache. That was a great date.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Say it with me now--A real job!
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
OMG, I am dressed? When did that happen? Oh, I've been wandering around my workplace with my shirt open? Who cares.
34. What kept you sane?
Kitties.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Ciarán Hinds.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Um, Bush is an asshat? I don't know, it's been such an ongoing level of annoyance it's almost possible to get used to it.
37. Who did you miss?
Friends from long ago. My grandpa.
38. Who were the best new people you met?
Mike and the new people I met at the parties on Friday and Saturday.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005.
No matter how many times the baby has peed in the last few minutes, it is entirely possible for him to pee again.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Oh, perilous place walk backwards toward you
Blink disbelieving eyes chilled to the bone
Most visibly brave no apprehended bloom
First to take this foot to virgin snow
I am magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment
I am a wunderkind
And I live the envelope pushed far enough to believe this
I am a princess on the way to my throne
Destined to serve, destined to roam
Oh, ominous place spellbound and un-child-proofed
My least favorite shelter bear alone
Compatriots in face they’d cringe if I told you
Our best back pocket secret our bond full blown
And I am a magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment
I am a wunderkind
And I am pioneer naïve enough to believe this
I am a princess on the way to my throne
Destined to seek, destined to know
Most beautiful place reborn and blown off roof
My view about face whether great will be done
And I am a magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment
I am a wunderkind
I am a groundbreaker naïve enough to believe this
I am a princess on the way to my throne
And I am a magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment
I am a wunderkind
I am a Joan of Arc and smart enough to believe this
I am a princess on the way to my throne
Destined to reign, destined to roam
