nordic magic

if i had known beforehand that astérix & obélix: mission cléopâtre was in french, i would have jumped more willingly at the invitation to watch the preview (my friend won tickets in a lucky draw). was a bit apprehensive about watching a movie based on a comic that i had never read before ... and even though i have embraced the great singapore sale spirit, i know how free things can sometimes be a total waste of time. but as it is, i had to take back my words 5 minutes into the movie. jamel debbouze (the grocer's assistant in amélie) did a great job at inducing sidesplitting laughs throughout the movie. there's something about the way he speaks, the way his mouth moves as he speaks and the way he acts that makes him so endearing (to me, if not to anyone else). and while i haven't watched a whole lot of french comedies to make any sweeping statement about them, they have proven to be highly entertaining and have all tickled me so far. i like. i recommend.

probably have been eating too much for my own good this past week. arranging back-to-back meet-ups with friends has meant that i've been eating full-time and doing little of anything else. am one extremely well-fed girl right now, for there's nothing like a chat over a bowl of noodles and/or a generous slice of tiramisu. maybe i will find that i won't be able to fit into my skirts when i start work in early july. die.
