noteworthy

noteworthy concert (the 4th one) at the old parliament house on sunday evening. in attending, i encountered bits and pieces of my rj chamber past - the music, the people, performing in front of an appreciative audience. felt so ashamed to be in the presence of such talented young musicians ... all those fingers that flew over fingerboards and performed vibratos with such ease ... i, with my rusty fingers am far from being able to play as part of a string quartet right now. maybe next year, after i get reacquainted with my cello *determined*.
fingers may grow stiff and forget their positions on the fingerboard, but in meeting up with my former chamber orchestra mates and teachers yesterday, i realized that time doesn't change certain things. it was fun spotting familiar faces of teachers and chamber alumni among the audience, and with sirene lim being the concerned teacher she has always been, marietta ku flashing that same impish grin when she saw me, zx passing his slapstick comments whenever he had an opportunity to, jack picking yet another mozart piano trio to perform and kenneth taking forever to react to every sentence i uttered, it was a happy mini reunion of sorts. i found myself gratefully resigning myself to the fact that i would forever be irritated by zx's signature brashness, that even if i yelled "fire fire!", kenneth would still take just as long to react, that i would play a mozart piano trio with jack if i performed next year ... that i find some things are still where i left them a few years ago, hai2shi4 lao3yang4zi3 ... 'tis comforting.
