I got my
BPAL imps in today. Yay! Decided to just go down the list and try them in alphabetical order, instead of tormenting myself over what to do first, then next, etc. So, at the top of the list was Alice.
ALICE - Mad Tea Party
Curiouser and curiouser. Milk and honey with rose, carnation and bergamot.
In Bottle: While trying to figure out what I was inhaling on my first sniff, I sneezed. :D On the second sniff, there was a definite spicy mark to it. It wasn’t the sugary sweet smell I was expecting.
On Skin: Still rather spicy… Initially it smells like a sunscreen, that turns powdery really fast. Like rose scented baby powder. But a good rose scented baby powder…
Wet: A little less sunscreeny… still spicy rose. I think it’s the spicy taint that’s giving me the baby powder.
Drydown: Very powdery… but in a clean, nice way… It’s like rose powder .. It makes me think of… play makeup or something… playing dressup. Maybe that’s where other people were getting tea parties from on the other reviews. But it’s still not very sweet to me. I have yet to smell any honey, or milk… but maybe it’s the milk that’s giving it the powdery hints…
After Time: When I wave it infront of my nose, I get like a spicy.. bread sort of smell. :D This is just all sorts of things, but the spice remains throughout the whole process. After an hour or more, it softened up considerably. The spicy taint doesn’t sting my nose like it did.
Final Verdict: Reading other reviews makes me think that the spicy hint is from the carnation. (I can’t recall what a carnation smells like) But I don’t smell the kid’s candy or honey or sugar that most other people seem to. Or anything nutty. O.o I was expecting it to be sweeter and more sugary… and not as spicy as it is. It’s pretty, but I’m not terribly sure it’s me. I’ll definitely try it again though.
Edit: I asked Steve to smell it and he said.. ‘cake’… o.O Sweet cake, but I’m not getting any of that at all. So.. maybe it’s just my nose. :D Interesting… When I told him all I could smell was spice, he said.. spicy cake… and.. baked goods.
