Dont be the one in your neighborhood to miss their hot new album, Wind Pain, featuring such hits as Zorro foot, 100 meters to danger, Hair del mar, and the Dolores del viento reggaetone remix.

All inside joking aside, I can say for my part that I really enjoyed running around Mexico with my fellow band members. We ate grasshoppers and drank alcohol with lots of other savory insects such as scorpions and worms floating around in it. We got caught in a taxi turf war. We explored new frontiers in sunburnt-ness and confronted until-now-undiscovered phobias. I bought uncharacteristically large and garish sunglasses and tried my hand at different moments as kid detective, tour guide, and ranchera singer. We received exceptional restaurant service from an eight-year-old. We ate. And ate. And ate.

And Micah and I discovered two more friends with whom we can successfully travel without once wanting to gouge anyones eyes out. Unless you count that Austrian (?) tourist Brennan bumped into several times who was wearing an Iginla jersey.

I was going to do some more traveling this week, but I came back to Queretaro just a couple days after those guys left. I wish they could have stayed on in Oaxaca to enjoy the extra day and night I did, because it was nothing short of magical. The trip home was arduous and lonesome but I got home to find a cultural festival going on through this weekend. Theater, art, dance, music in all the public plazas of Queretaro, every afternoon and into the night this week, and the best part is that its all free. Last night I took in a great concert by a nationally renowned traditional singer with the unfortunate stage name of (translated) Tania Freedom. Today is classical guitar concert followed by a play, followed by dueling baritones. Tomorrow is a birthday party featuring an accordion-led trio, folkloric dance troupe, mariachis, and Mozart, and Saturday is more theater and a salsa lesson with a Cuban combo a la Buena Vista Social Club. Sunday Ill finish up with a gallery hop, poetry slam, a tango-flamenco presentation and another concert that looks promising. I will be so saturated by the end of this weekend that going back to school on Monday will be exhausting.

Im gonna let everybody else tell you about Mexico for a change.
