[ On level fifteen, the observation deck, Sasuke is leaning contemplatively while looking out. ]

Hn.

[ He snatches the sphere, hits a few buttons, and shows a brief clip which goes something like this, since sharing is caring. Right? He doesn't look like he's going to say anything himself, since the clip then repeats, and repeats again, before ( Read more... )

Oh wow, thanks for catching that, Sasuke! There must be some sort of equipment on board that shouldn't be, don't you think? Something scientific, or a weapon, or...something.

Maybe something that messes with time?

Luck, more than anything.

Orion knew the ship was over-made for what it was supposed to be; so did Ganymede, and he further knew people were on board under assumed professions which were not their own. That he'd go the final step toward activating whatever the ship was truly capable of, in light of his egoism, isn't hard to believe.

And if it messes with time...

Then that might be why we're in this mess.

Yes. Which leaves us with the question of "it." What "it" is, and where "it" can be located -- and if "it" was as simple as navigation coordinates, or something else built in to the ship.

A very naughty Captain messing with things he has no damn right to. [he smiles though, thankful that you've shared that, Sasuke. he's nowhere near Level 15.]

A very human reaction to someone afraid of losing power and prestige to their own offspring.

Unfortunately, that's so terribly stereotypical of all the megalomaniacs and idiots I've encountered in the past.

He has no idea, they have no idea just what they're playing at!

[ Just the hint of a smile, and something darker, when Sasuke hears that. ]

No... and to most, it doesn't matter.

Orion had suspicions, and Ganymede had knowledge that was either incomplete, or the theory behind what they were testing proved inadequate when he activated whatever it was.

[ He wonders what the Doctor has to say about that, quirking an eyebrow at the much, much older male. ]

A man in over his head and possibly playing with forces he and we don't understand?

Sounds like our Ganymede.

[ A very dry, noticeably sour "our." ]

Orion doesn't seem to be much better.

Hn. There lies the conundrum.

What do you think we should do?

Have a conference amongst ourselves, sometime soon, to discuss and brainstorm over the new information in conjunction with the old.

Not quite enough to get a clear picture of what was going on- besides some family issues, I suppose. Still better than nothing.

Family issues have a strong effect on some people's actions.

[ Oh the irony. ]

But you're correct. Not enough for a clear picture, but enough for a better one.
