Things I learned about making a "real" bakery cake:
1 - Obviously they use 2 boxes of cake mix to make a round cake, meaning there are 4 rounds.
2 - Fondant isn't as hard as it looks, but I do have some issues with smoothing it at the end because there was a spot where there was a tiny bit of overlap.
3 - I need one of those fondant cutting tools because a knife just does not work.
4 - Don't dye all the fondant at once now that I know roughly how much I need for a cake. If you dye it all at once, you're stuck not being able to make many other colors. Probably an even better idea: keep the fondant white to cover the cake and then use color to decorate.
5 - Always go in with a plan and not wing it. Otherwise you end up with decorations like mine. LOL
