I'm so glad you loved Prometheus. I did too, even though I acknowledge it has it's boatload of flaws. But I love when everyone complains about how stupid all the scientists were being because - hello - hubris! Convinced you're at the top of the food chain and nothing can hurt you, and - wham

Oh, I definitely give the scientists the benefit of the doubt. They had no clue what they were getting into, Holloway and Shaw included, and there was definitely too much pride and naivety floating around on that ship and not near enough practicality and seriousness. For one, Vickers and the Captain should've insisted on more research done outside the structure when they first landed, instead of giving ground to the eager scientists and letting them take off half-cocked.
I didn't know there'd been negative feedback from people, but upset over whether or not Prometheus fits the definition of a prequel (which, like you said, it does) strikes me as being kind of petty and nitpicky. No film is going to meet every criteria a fan has for it, no matter what. Can't folks just like something? It's a beautiful, smart film, with some amazing continuity in the Alien(s) universe. The end. (Although, hopefully that's not the end because I would love more from this storyline! Who doesn't want to tag along with Elizabeth and David on their suicide
