Merry Christmas and thoughts on I am Legend

Dec 24, 2007 08:55

First of all, I wanted to wish everyone a very merry Christmas as I will not be online much until Wednesday morning. Today, I have some running around to do for Christmas Dinner and then I will help mom cook dinner since she works tonight. I also hope to do some Heroes or anime watching today.

Tomorrow the plan is for presents, church and dinner. I received a Turkey at work for Christmas, so that will be what is used for Dinner. It was a frozen bird and it was the perfect time to get one, since it is probably thawed by tonight. I hope to get Paprika for Christmas, so I can start figuring out my BDP-Long form ballot. We are only 8 days away from the opening of Nominations.

On that note, let us talk about a possible Hugo nominee in that category "I am Legend." I saw it yesterday and I rather did enjoy it. I didn't enjoy it as much as Beowulf, which will be on my BDP-Long Form Ballot. The creatures didn't scare me enough. There wasn't as much danger from them. I don't think it is Will Smith's fault. He played the lead character excellently. I cared about WIll smith's character.

A good Science Fiction movie should get you to care about the characters and the point it is making. That is the biggest failing of this film. I don't know whether it is the writing or the directing of the film. I know it was a remake of another film, which I haven't seen. I have some thoughts on whether Heroes should be nominated for BDP-Long Form, but I will save those for 12/26.

hugos, christmas, i am legend
