The costs of being a con runner
This weekend will be dead for me. As tempted as I am to see Iron Man 2, I am even more tempted after tomorrow morning WW and some chores to clean or watch FMA: Brotherhood instead. This is my next four weekends after this weekend:
May 28-30 Balticon (Won't be there for monday, but may volunteer this year)
June 3-7 A-kon (Flying out there and back along with definitely staffing it)
June 11-13 Resting at home
June 18-20 Friday Evening Ironbirds Opening Night, Saturday and Sunday Anime Next
I think I may just decide to skip the Anime USA meeting on the 27th of June for simple sanity. Somebody else can take the minutes for that meeting. I added Anime Next yesterday for the simple reason that Kenji Kamiyama (Director of East of Eden and Ghost in the Shell: SAC) will be there. At Anime Next, I will have my autograph book and my Statue of Motoko Kusanagi (may keep the Motoko Statue or donate to Charity Auction at AUSA, not sure).
For A-kon, I won't have my autograph book because I am going to have to be a con runner this year more than a fan. It would be deeply unprofessional of me to ask Mary Elizabeth Mcglynn to take a picture with me after wrangling her all weekend. I can't just stand in line for a guests autograph at a convention anymore. People know that I am a high level con runner and you can't do those sort of things as a veteran con runner. That is something that I will miss in being a harder core con runner instead of a fan who con runs at a lower level.
