The stuff dreams are made of

Well, not really. My dreams of late have been somewhat along the lines of missing the boat. But such is life, I guess.

Couple of things:
- Our trip to Michigan was really fun. I know there's a lot of people we couldn't catch up with, but we made a damned good effort -- 800 miles between Weds and Sunday. It went something like this: Fly to Detroit → Drive to Battle Creek → Drive to AA → Drive to Brighton → Drive to AA → Drive to Northville → Drive to Brighton → Drive to Kalamazoo → Drive to Niles → Drive to Kalamazoo → Drive to Detroit → Fly to Boston. I think that about sums it up, right fdmts?
- During this voyage of epic proportions, we saw: My Grandma (91, with Prius), My Aunt (gave us eagles for our house), mcniadh (b33r at Arbor Brewing!), my friend Grace & her husband (lunch at Zingerman's!!), fdmts' aunt (he broke the chair), about 30 people from my 2000 Med School Class at UMich, aerospcgrl and her lovely kitty, My friend Zöe and her kids (? 2nd breakfast?), My Grandparents (87 and 88 yo) + 18 other 1st and 2nd cousins / aunts / uncles, and thx4asking and Deb (Niles. Really!). I think that's everyone. Can't really be sure....

- I have been working on this baby kimono sweater for one of my nursing assistants at work. I have finally completed this task. It is, in fact, apparently before she has had the baby. I have several comments on this:
  • ONE - I hate this fracking yarn!
  • TWO - The catz are needy, and more needy when you need them to get off your yarn.
  • TRE - The sweater is TOO DAMN HIGH BIG. And you know what? I don't really care... Please don't make me use this yarn any more.

    - Minnow is hysterical. She leaps into the recycle bin in our office, spends enough time in there that we forget she's in there (takes a bath, shreds stuff, etc.) and then leaps out again.

    - I've gotten into this new app that capital_l found a version of for her Nexus One. On iPhone, it's "Sleep Cycle". I'm not sure how detailed it is, because we have a Tempurpedic mattress, but it still seems to work OK in general. It helps me wake up without being so sluggish in the morning, like I'm going to skip work entirely. I think it's helping, and I intend to keep it up for the nonce.

    - I was down in Providence yesterday for a bit, and I bought some handspun, hand-dyed Merino wool that's fair trade from Uruguay. I have great plans for this yarn!!

    - I am also going to knit a Christmas pickle. (just roll with it)

    - And last, but not least, I have had fdmts' company for almost 2 weeks (!!) and it is a good thing. It is not quite topped by homemade borscht for dinner tonight, fancy pickles and chutneys coming out of the kitchen, and my own personal bed space heater, but hey -- a girl can't have everything.
