Coolness! While out last week, my friend and I found a hardcover of Gone With The Wind for $1, right after I commented on how I'd never been able to find a copy anywhere! There was also a ripped fur coat, lovely white fur, very pretty... just didn't have the money for it. Would've made lovely trim.

Yes, second hand shopping rocks!

You didn't buy the fur? :-( that's too bad.

I'm proud of you for the $1.00 book! Yay!

By the way... how *are* the 2nd hand stores "Down South"? do you find them better, worse, or the same as up here? I'm just curious. :-)

Eh, a thrift store is a thrift store. All that matters is location.

As for the fur... I didn't have the money and didn't want to ask for another loan from my friend. Plus, even as trim it would be too hot down here for me.

See, and I totally hate shopping, so the allure of those stores is totally lost on me. You have to be willing to shop around in there to find the cool stuff and I would rather drive my skull through a plate glass window than shop.

I need to become independently wealthy and hire a shopper!

Okay, here is the secret; one does not simply "go 2nd hand shopping"... one must be *drawn* to the store. :-)

I have talked with many friends who have agreed. We all seem to get that "feeling" that we should go to the 2nd hand store... like it's 6th scense, or something. But, I'll tell you this, it had rarely let me down! I have found so many things that I didn't realize that I was looking for.

One such situation was when I browsing after finding what *I* had actually been shopping for... I found a totally retro R2-D2 coffee mug. The thing looked brand new, and it was only $.99!!!!!! I thought of my Star Wars enthusiast sister, and bought it right away. About a month later, I sent it to her as a get well pressie after she got into a car crash. Sis LOVED the mug... says it makes her smile all the time.

See, you never know when a browse will turn into a great buy!
