Room 407, Sunday morning

May 04, 2008 10:22

When Sky awoke on Sunday morning and had gone through his usual routine of wake-run-shower-dress, he came back to his room and turned his attention to the letter he'd handwavily received from S.P.D. on Friday, which he'd been too busy to focus on. He read it once, blinked hard, and read it again to make sure he wasn't seeing things.

Sky got up to answer the door, temporarily distracted when he saw who it was.

"Hey, Adam," he said with a small smile before stepping back slightly. "Come on in."

"I guess it hasn't really hit me yet," Sky admitted. "When I first got to Fandom, yesterday seemed so far away... and now it's here and gone. It's kinda surreal to know I could be leaving soon."

Sky sighed a little. "There's also this..." He picked up the letter. "My Commander wrote to me about a special mission he wants me to take on. He said I can refuse if I want to, but if I do go, I won't be able to stay here for the summer. I really want to go, but I want to stay, too. It's a tough decision."

"...Very," Sky admitted. "A few weeks after I got to Fandom, my best friend Dru went missing in action and... was presumed dead. Commander Cruger said something bothered him about that, so he wants me to go with him to where Dru disappeared to search for any clues about it. I'm not sure what to do, but I have to decide soon." He shook his head. "I'll just have to think about it." Smiling at Adam, genuinely, he turned to look at his shelf.

"I'm actually glad you came, because I was just thinking about something." Sky reached up and took down his father's helmet. "I know you saw a plastic version when I was turned into a little kid, but..." He held it out. "I figured that, as a fellow Ranger, you might want to see the real thing."

"I know," said Sky, nodding back, then tugged his shirt down nervously. "I'm hoping that when I actually become a Ranger, I can be Red just like Dad was. It's all I've ever wanted out of life." He smirked. "Of course, I suppose argyle wouldn't be too bad."

"He was," said Sky, his eyes darting over to the ever-present picture of his young self and his dad. "He was- still is- my hero. I can only hope I'll be as great as he was." He then had to roll his eyes at the memory of the giant bear fight- because even in their universe, furniture Zords were just a wee bit bizarre. "It just didn't feel like a proper Ranger color. At least it was red argyle."
